Here we have what Russia must do to move forward. When Pres. Putin takes responsibility Russia can grow. Many voices across the country will settle for no less.

One shouldn’t have to recite the litany of terror, but in Russia , one does. The Communists were estimated to have killed through murder, camps, starvation, deportations- at least 20 million people over 36 years (72 total). Yes, the number bandied around now is 12.5 million, but that acknowledges millions more. Most of this lies at the feet of the greatest monster in history*, Joseph Stalin, a filthy psychotic who killed his family, friends, colleagues, and significant portion of his nation… along with a piece of Galina’s soul. He didn’t “save the country” in WW2, he was responsible for 10-14 million of the 28 million deaths by ignoring Hitler’s threat even after he invaded,

“We still remember this tragedy. We need to do a great deal to ensure that this is never forgotten.”

35% now would vote for Stalin as leader

I found the Putin's youth article to be a bit disturbing. We've seen that before in Germany....

I was really upset when Pres. Putin wanted to present "Stalin" as a great hero. Can't he see the truth in the world is out? Since 1989 Poland's President, Katlyn, and internet now seek answers. Instead of taking Russia into 2008, Putin is dredging in dangerous waters. In the USA Polish people are demanding the truth. I for one will not back down, Russia cannot silence a world. Respect is earned.

I added a direct link and a few more paragraphs from the story.

Yes, we do. Build a big central memorial to them, this lost nation of ghosts. Dig up Stalin and bury him in an unknown pauper’s grave. Crush the Stalin cult of rehabilitation- run endless documentaries about the truth of the Gulag. Bury Lenin- this macabre waxwork founding father of a deadly experiment. And let’s have some trials, finally, after all these years. Slay some monsters for the victims, Mr. Putin- you know better than anyone who they are.

I heard Stalin himself killed 2 milliards of people ONLy in Moscow... Only in the first half od 1937...

In fact Putin bets on peoples sympathy and does whatever people want to see. That helps him have 70%+ voters who seems to ignore some of his unlucky moments e.g. Kursk, Beslan etc

That is from a very old generation. What about the other 60.9% of the vote?

Putin wants their sympathy and the sympathy of their family members who they influence.

Most vote for him due to the better economic conditions for which he is considered to be responsible.Russians care more for food, luxury and safety than for press freedom etc.

Where is the Russia pride, are they not able to feel empathy? Do you know the majority age in Russia? It seems there must be family members that can't stand the fact that Stalin killed their family also?

As far as I know there are some, but there aren't many who is radically against it. Lets say, mosty are for, many dont care and the rest few are against Stalin.
In fact, there aren't many people in Russia who's relatives were killed by Stalin because most of them have moved abroad since then and the rest weren't killed but only deported to Siberia... So I would assume the latter don't really express any feelings towards Stalin.

And Southern has explained the rest.

I just watched a show about Stalin the other night, Stalin's niece(who's own father was killed) was taken to Siberia for 5 years. I am going to copy this movie and send CD's to the Russia schools. J/K They showed the NKVD housing with the private eleavator to go remove people that were never seen again. On the outside of the building they had a list with hundreds of names, just from this one building, of people that never came back or were heard from. So I assumed with this being a newer documentory, the people know.

What I was trying to say with a country of 300 mln people 5 mln isnt a large percentage; many people don't know about their predecessors; others do not respect theirs; many suffered did not have children, and of course 60odd years have gone past. You probably did not suffer as much during 90-ies, but it looked like even radical antistalinist could have changed his mind a bit after that.
