Salary expectations in Poland

If the company has nothing to do with Greece and he doesn't have any experience then I will be surprised If he gets even half of that.

Damn, I nearly had a heart attack when I thought the average was 1000 euro's a year. My family usually spends close to 4000 on a two week holiday once a year in somewhere like turkey.

international companies are not so stupid to give a Greek employee with a master about 500 euro per month in Poland. no Greek would ever want to go to Poland with such a low offer. dont underestimate companie's salaries policies. they are not so stupid as you might think. even more when a Greek can earn more than 1000 euros per month as a waiter in the Greek islands.

My name is Matt. I just got a job offer in Krakow. its 9895 PLN per month. Looks like after deduction of all taxes i get net 6719 PN per month. Is the tax rate this high in Poland?

Is 6719 PLN a good salary in Krakow?

Is it like average salary, above average or excellent?

What would be the average rent for a single bedroom apartment in Krakow and any information regarding living expense would help.

Whether the salary's good or not depends what you'll be doing. For a burger flipper it would be insanely good, but maybe not great for a corporate lawyer. In any case, you should be able to live pretty comfortably on that in Krakow.

Sounds enough for me, usually i take home about 5k and live comfortably on that. Some months when ive been on holiday i take home half of that and still have no problems. Depends if your shrewed with your cash or. From what ive been told by my students average is about 1500, and they seem to get by no problem.

ok i will ask a couple of guys who might know people in that sector. Though if you earn above 5k, you will live a very comfortable life. I always eat out, spend my weekends on hoildays around Poland and always manage to save. For a top of the range 1 bedroom flat you pay around 1.5k, bills are maybe 500pln a month, So you will have plenty of spare cash, trust me;)

IT, my friend who is now in Poznan earns the same as he did in Ireland. In krakow above 4k will guarantee a good class of living.

Yes. But you can ask them to employ you as a one-person company and then you only pay 19% tax and PLN 250 a month NI (rises to PLN 800 a month after you've been in business for two years).

One-bed apartment in a decent state and decent location would probably be in the region of PLN 1400 to PLN 2200 a month. Depends how fussy you are and how much space you want.

Having been on holiday in Greece, I'm sure this is a minimum. However it is seasonal work.

I think instead of concerning yourself straight away with how much you get paid perhaps researching the cost of living would be a better way of calculating if what they offer you is enough for you to maintain your life style. The other factors such as language, culture and weather are all important. Its not just about the money. You will be adopting a different way of living. Good luck.

Well, but why would they want a Greek employee with a master... ? Like people already said everything depends If they really need a guy fluent in Greek, with contacts in Greece, knowledge of local law, customs etc. If yes then you should get at least 1200 EUR, probably more but If they don't need a guy with these skills/knowledge then they won't give you even 500, they will give you nothing. Why would they even take a Greek guy not fluent in Polish ? To show customers as curiosity ?



Income tax is not that high, ZUS and health insurence is the problem.

6719zl per month is peanuts, most of my friends earn 10000 to 20000 and still find it hard.

I did a bit of research in this and find out 9879 ZL(my gross pay/month) is not bad. i think 'Sir' Gayer doesnt like anyone coming to Poland. Or he is Sir Lord Gayer friends with queen of England and so....

I think that you are probably right!

If you set up a one-person company and get your employer to contract your company, that 9879zl gross could be a net of 7605zl for the first two years and 7105zl after that. It's well worth asking them if they'd consider employing you as a one-person company (they should jump at the offer because it cuts 23% of the cost of hiring you because they don't need to make employer NI contributions). Give it a try.

i agree but i dont think i can be self employed as i am a foreigner. The company has to apply for my work permit showing their interest in 'employing me'. i will give it a try anyway.

If you're British, you should have no problem registering as self-employed (actually it's called something along the lines of "having your own business activity") in Poland. You DO NOT need a work permit here.

When i registered in my local town hall, the woman at the desk asked me if I had a visa in my passport. we kindly reminded the woman that the UK was in Europe as is Poland and therefore a Visa wasn't needed. After double checking this revelation with here colleagues she agreed i didn't need a Visa.!!!!!!!!!!
