i agree but i dont think i can be self employed as i am a foreigner. The company has to apply for my work permit showing their interest in 'employing me'. i will give it a try anyway.

Even if you are a foreigner, you can still have a one-person company if Poles in your country are allowed to have their own one-person companies.

Do employees in Poland get payed their salary on weekly, bi-weekly or monthly bases?

What is the current average annual household (or individual) income?

What is an average price for a house in Poland and what are your average mortgage payments?

Grzegorz_:
He is in technical sales and makes about the equivalent of 75,000 euro a year.

Wow .you mean 75 000 zl per year and not Euros because otherwise if your friend makes this kind of money in technical sales , it means his target sales must be of at least 4 Millions of Euros a year!

Wow! You must mean 75 000 zlotys a year and not Euros otherwise your friend 's objectives in sales / target must be of at least 4 Millions Euros !

Salaries are increasing in Poland. There was a 17z³ rise in my monthly social security payment (ZUS). My financial handler told me that it was due to a rise in salaries. Who am I to disagree with him? U can expect a slightly higher salary

I don't know if you realize how rough it is there. The average Polish worker like a nurse, school teacher, barber, waiter, etc. make from 800 to 1200 zl [
b]PER MONTH. [/b]Your talking about a 6000zl salary being unsatisfactory is absurd to me. My cousin who is a school teacher went to university for 5 years earns 1000 zl a month, and she's considered well off by some of her friends who make much less.

Food: Veggie food and Indian ingredients can be found in Warsaw, may be harder to find in other places. Warning: a vegetarian diet is more expensive in Poland than the alternatives.

Indian people in Poland: Few and far between.

Cost of living: Too many variables to answer. Are you alone? Will your company help with housing?

Language: to start learning Polish. Otherwise you'll be a pain in the neck to friends and co-workers (and get left out of things at the office unless they're all foreigners). Also, you won't be able to get much done unless you drag a translator around with you. Polish bureaucracy is monolingual and expects long term residents (over a year) to learn Polish, period. The good news is that the difficulties in learning survival Polish (as opposed to fluent literary Polish) are greatly exaggerated, especially while you're in Poland and the benefits will far outweigh the effort.

Thanks mafketis for your suggestion.
I am bachelor and will be staying alone in Lodz, company will not provide accomodation.
How are the IT opportunities in Poland?
How is Lodz city? is it cosmopoliton or more of local people?

Thanks,
Dave

I've never been to £ód¼ (pronounced Wootch) but AFAIK it's more Polish and not as cosmopolitan as Warsaw (or Kraków or Wroc³aw or Poznań).

Traditionally it has been where foreign students sent to study in Poland by their governments first learned Polish (in 8 months after which they had to be able to understand university lectures and textbooks). I don't know how many students like that are around now.

I have no idea on earth about apartment prices there either.

It's had rough times in the last 30 years or so but I think things are starting to pick up.

If you haven't seen them already, here are some english pages about Lodz.

Thanks mafketis,
I am offered 6000 Zloty per month gross. I learned tax is about 19%, Is that right?
I would like to know how much I would be able to save after monthly expenditures?

ex. Gross Salary 6000 zloty
Tax 1320 zloty
Accomodation 1800 zloty. Is that enough?
Food 300 zloty. Is this enough?
Will there be any other expenditure per month?

Leftout per month is around 3000 zloty. Is that enough as savings for comfortable life in Lodz, Poland?

Thanks,
Dayanand

I learned tax is about 19%

wrong tax is 30% ZUS is 10 % so altogheter is 30 % of total gross

so forget about 3000 netto on your hands
