Second wave of Polish Immigration to the UK

I'm from S. Wales, the area is heavily industrialised and used to have thriving coal and steel industries, many Poles migrated and settled there, as a result I went to school with people with surnames such as (excuse the phonetic spelling) Suckerchevski, Chevetic, Marzak, Olianic, Maslen, Shemeska and many others. Do you think the current wave of migrants to the UK intend to settle and assimilate in the way that previous generations did, or will they return to Poland, of course some will and others won't but what do people think the general trend will be?

it will be a case of both situations happening. It think.

There are over 250,000,000 Irish over the centuries all over the world and MOST of them settled into the locality. But back then uprooting was much harder and travell not as accessible.

I believe that the Polish will intergrate on many levels and some will return also. Which is good for Poland.

The Poles who stayed after the war had no choice. Some settles in East Africa, Argentina and Aberdeen. Those I know from Divine Mercy College were either born or grew up in these places.

Modern Poles mainly want to work and return home it would seem, however at least 10% will settle at a guess. I hope so.

All of them are Polish surnames?

I know some people in the US who stay and some who return back to Poland. Some stay because they have good jobs, became citizens one way or another and an established life.
Others return because they were here illegally and are disapointed that they couldn't make enough money. Life in the US is expensive and people have this vision that money grows on trees and that is the main reason they come to the US. And if They're here illegally, don't speak the language, can't find that job, they return back to Poland.
And those that overstayed their visas, will not be able to come back to the US for 10 years.
