Sebastian Kornhauser - Poland

On the afternoon of 5th May 2005 a dozen armed men, some in plain clothes and others in SWAT uniforms, entered his home without a permit and by force with machine guns and dogs. They destroyed his Israeli flags which were hanging by the windows, turned his home upside down and seized many of his personal possessions. Among these was a ‘blank firing pistol’ which Mr Kornhauser had purchased several years earlier as a souvenir from the Czech Republic. Under Polish law he needed a permit for this but was unaware of that at the time. He was then taken by unmarked car to the police investigation centre in Krakow, where he claims he was badly beaten.

Access to justice campaigners expressed concern that British and New Zealand dual citizen company director Bruce Robinson has now been held under ‘temporary arrest’ in a Polish prison for 12 months without bail and without a trial.

And how is that different from the UK? Criminals are often held without bail for many months and there is an obvious risk of flight - as the first post shows

Greg thats alittle harsh. He was the CEO of the company, mabye it was shoddy workman ship, he didn't build it. Just the buck has to stop somewhere, far better to blame a foreigner than to admit Polish liability, do you not think.

Doesn't happen in UK unless for terrorist offences.

But he was so greedy that didn't want to spend a few hundreds to clean the snow out of the roof. Besides I'm not saying that only he should be punished.

Nothing unusual here.

Do you know him? Is he still in prison? Or maybe, just maybe - if you want to do bussiness in Poland, you need to be a professional?

I think the guy [kornhausser] is innocent. Just set up in a stage managed political fiasco.
