Setting up an internet gaming cafe in Poland

This was suggested on another thread, and I have to say it caught my imagination!

The suggestion is simple: get a location, connect it up to the 'net. Invest in a few wii machines and start up an internet gaming facility.

Who wants to talk about the practical possibilities of this. It sounds like fun!

Okay I'm talking Bubba.

Tell me about your location. What are the typical overhead costs per month?

What does insurance cost. In Ireland this is typically the thing that breaks a business. I know crime is rare in Poland but that's no consolation if my equipment gets stolen and don't get insurance!

Tell me about what business permits are needed. Is it possible that a corrupt official will close the business down because the location "doesn't meet regulations"?

This happened to a relative of a friend in Prague.

Are video games popular in Poland? If so, do most prefer console-based or PC-based gaming?

While on vacation there, I tried finding a power adapter for my Nintendo DS. None of the stores I visited in the Zakopane and Tri-City areas had any. I did see some Xbox and Playstations, but didn't see anyone browsing the game aisles.

How regulated is this aspect of business?

I presume you need special permissions and licenses to do this.

If you're going to have a wii for public usage, I imagine you'd need to acquire documents giving you permission. Who on here can give advice about such things?

doubtful, but the thing about poland is that you never know what is going to happen till it does and even then it can change half way thru... its all part of the experience
