This from a guy who know a couple of the victims

But what we do know is that he was a Asian Male in his mid 20s. Some of the people i have talked to that go there told me it all started with a arguement he had with his girlfriend earlier that morning. She was his first victim.

insurance. people not taking responsibilty. self medication. no discipline as children. no boundries. no respect/fear of authority consequences. dissillusions from religion and spirituality. anger management (or lack off)

I do agree with guns dont kill people, people kill people (the guns just make it easier)
(this is NOT condoning what happened OR gun use - just the fact that it is people who point and shot them)

The availability of guns should ONLY be in the hands of the armed forces and armed response units of the civil wings. Though, im nearly certain, we'd just find a more 'creative' means of killing one another.

The murder rate in the USA is 20k pa Amathyst..........90% + by gun...in UK......7-800....only.......mostly by gun too.

Its not the gun thats crazy...but those who use them......its a sad reflection of a society that they believe the need to have the right to bear arms!

i should qualify insurance, by that i mean, some places are more afraid of insurance that they are not tight enough on gun control rather just to 'insure' itself from lack of gun control which is tragic

UK is a lot smaller so those figures are quite scary.

Gun crime has been around for a long time, its just that guns are more available and incidents like this seem to be happening more and more

The sad thing is, nothing will change and thats what upsets me, because those families will never have any kind of retribution.

Doubtless they will wheel out the phrase that they hope they haven't died in vain......but we all know they will have.

The feebled minded, inept, inane and those of less than good intentions will continue to have access to these weapons........

The USA public seem content to accept these mass murders as a price worth paying so they can swagger around....being their own individual sheriffs.....laughable....and profoundly sad.

And it seems to be happening more and more in schools. We never had to think of such things when I was in school, the worst thing then was getting caught smoking on campus!

Typically..the most "dangerous" unstable time of a persons life.......unless they have a mental health problem....

The NRA of the USA has its own finger on the trigger when this happens

Well, you gotta understand too, that we've got some paranoids (republicans of course)in this country that act as if the "right to bear arms" is the most important part of the constitution, and maybe when the country was founded that was a real need. This makes it hard to get anywhere with gun-control legislation! But things have changed, you aren't so likely to face a bear outside your house when you go out in the morning! Who really needs a gun, now? Hunters, maybe? I can tell you from growing up on a farm with a father who hunted, that handguns do not fall into that category!

Plus there is a social aspect here involving the young people: not as much mentoring, supervision, support, communication as genration or two ago. Parents often do not know what is going on inside their kids heads, or what they are into.

The is a problem with multiple causation, and will need a similiar approach to address the problem!

Two hundred years ago...it displays a lack of maturity as a nation and a deep distrust of its government and those who hold office that they believe there is a need to carry/own a gun....indeed, it just goes to show how criminal/brutal areas of the USA are..........that everything has to be settled by blood shed or the ultimate sanction......very worrying.

Take away hand guns. Make hunting rifles the only legal weapons. We have the technology to be able to put a tracer in a gun, so that it will only work when activcated, and the hunter should be registered, then the gun can be activated only during the hunting season, and this will be the only way that people will be able to use guns LEGALLY.

My cousin has a friend who actually helps the police by finding someone who sells illegal automatic rifles, and buys one, brings it to the cops, tells them where to find the guy, and he's been able to help them stash away over a hundred Uzis and other automatics.

Sadly gun crimes are a huge problem in the US, but the bright side is that only a very small percent of gun owners in the US actually use them for crimes.

actuallu amethyst, the gun laws are not crazy at all, you can buy a gun on the black market, they can be infiltrated into our country through our porus borders, and we are protected by our constitution that we have the right to bear arms, if you have a gun you can protect yourself, and imagine this is the worst ever in US and we are over 225 years old, so to have one bad apple in 300 million is not too much to imagine, the reason i believe America is in trouble is the desensitization of our country of the value of LIFE since we had abortion allowed here, over 30 million babies have been mutilated, so where is the justice???.. God is the only righteous and just God, and he holds it all in his hands, man in our frail and unrighteous lives cannot even hold a candle to his righteousness because it is perfect, ..just as God says the sins of the fathers will be in the next generation and the next, so America has set itself on a crash course with ablivion. America is reaping what it has sowed, God says e will not be mocked, whatsoever a man sows that he will also reap. So when life is not honored, it is no longer regarded in such a magnificent way God holds it, so we are destined for this destruction because of our own actions. God will allow these thigs because we are not in his will. Now it is not all abortion but it started with it and the slippery slope was achieved and with every game with murders, and cops killed and every song that degrades human life, what are we to expect?? just such an occurance,

Yes shopgirl it is important, it is not the gun that killed, it was the person... Gun control will only cause more problems, Austrailia has it and murders increased dramatically, obviously you never met anyone who had a relative killed by a murderous thug.... or maybe you did?? Has WWII gotten by any of us???? remember the murders of our families by the germans and russians??? There is a reason not to have it, because once you dont have a means for the people to defend themselves we will have anarchy..
if you believe that for one second that Iran would not overrun a defensless country , think again, if they are bold enough to take 15 people hostage and break all international laws and protocol, as well as the genieva convention it will be a rouge nation that will be an agressor. So lets not be too quick to start to judge the Guns...
it starts inside people...if you have a people who can not pray anymore in school, and get sued because the 10 commandments are offensive in a public forum, and that there are groups in this country that want to eliminate God from every aspect of our lives..then what do you think we will end up with????? Yes..the answer is very easy...
A people who do not value life, and when life is devalued, then you do not stand as a great nation..America used to be a great nation, but she is no longer a great nation, because her leaders, past and present have disregarded the real value of life and freedom and have chosen a political climate of hatred and animosity, and self righteousness, and all i can do is quote Jesus who said... there is none righteous, except for the Father.

Amythyst and shopgirl, i respect your opinoins, i just used them to make a point, it is not that easy and isdeeper than just a gun law, so I am not ganging up on you just quoting you to make a point, i want to protect my family, I had a great great uncle murdered by the SS, so yes i believe in the right to bear arms, do i want to take a knife to a gun fight as the Indiana Jones would say.. So yes when they come with a gun they smuggled in, how do I plan to protect my family, with a squirt gun???
have a good night , this is my side of the opinion, its not just a republican cause, i know many many democrats, and know of a congressional democrat who carried a gun in Washington DC where it is illegal, and he was quoted as saying he had it for his own protection, so it is not just republicans, in such a politically charged atmosphere in america, please dont characterize republicans with this issue, it just spreads untruth and gossip, and shows that you are not totally informed on the subject, not to be mean about it, but before you criticize someone or a group make sure you have all the facts first, otherwise you are discredited when someone knows a bit more, and I say this only for your benefit not mine, because there are those out there who will be offended, and it did come across as offensive and abusive and finger pointing, and man i tell you I am so sick of the political scene here in America, i am so tired of the name calling and blame game, they both are as guilty and both parties are to blame for everything here, so there is again not one righteous, they are self righteous, and yes i am registered Republican, and I am blasting my own side!!! They are weak and have no skin or Jajka!!
So i am not criticizing you guys, my ???? are for us to think about things, not to say ahaaaa, take care.

Art is correct !!! And the reason he is is because we do have the right to bear arms, and people know that, I think if I put a sign on my door that says i will shoot forst and ask questions later if you think you are going to enter my house to rob , steal or kill us, i think they will pass. Guns actually deter crime.

Well,

I have something to say, this was long before I met my husband now.

I do know what your saying, but also what amathysts and everyone else is saying

my ex boyfriend held a gun to my head, we had broke up a short time, then
he begged me to come back, like a idiot I did, then he started asking questions
on who I was dating while i was not with him. it escalated, because I told him
to drop it, and he pulled his gun after I said I was leaving.

I never told my mom, dad, no one till later on. otherwise, especially my uncle
he would have went after him. it was the scariest moment of my life aside from
almost losing my daughter. which i would have never even had the chance to have
had I died that night.

I calmed him down, enough to pass out, he was a sick demented man.
and still to this day, because his family lives all over my area, i ocassionally
run into them, and they say hello, and tell me how he still uses drugs, alcolhol
etc, and you know what his guns were for? Hunting.. thats it, to shoot animals
which I couldnt stand him doing even when we werent fighting.

yes, thats my little story. I am lucky to be alive right now. I wish guns were melted
people snap like this guy did. and Over What?? well, he cant tell us now can he?
nor can his girfriend or the other 31 people he killed.

who were innocent. I am all for a huge meltdown!
People think they are to protect. but what good larry does it do you if you shoot
this guy in your home, you go to jail, the laws are backwards. this guy enters
your home, then what? you know, your supposed to exit the back door , if you have
one, if you dont, then you have just cause to shoot.

anyway, IMHO I think guns suck! so do all the idiots who kill with them
rot in hell is what they will do..
