Excuse me for asking, but doesn't this museum recognize displacement of other peoples in Europe as well, or is that just besides the point?

That's funny...all Danziger wanted "Heim ins Reich"...as Hitler drove into the town the people flipped in extasy!

Germans ... yes they wanted to be super race but they lost ...

as to XIX century

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germanisation

Prussian authorities settled German speaking ethnic groups in Polish territories after the partitions of Poland. A similar policy was pursued by Austria in Galicia, until 1867 when Galicia gained autonomy. Later, the means of the policy was the elimination of non-German languages from public life and from academic settings (such as schools). Later in the German Empire, Poles were (together with Danes, Alsatians, German Catholics and Socialists) portrayed as "Reichsfeinde" ("foes to the empire").[4] In addition, in 1885, the Prussian Settlement Commission financed from the national government's budget was set up to buy land from non-German hands and distribute it among German farmers.[5] From 1908 the committee was entitled to force the landowners to sell the land. Other means included Prussian deportations 1885-1890: deportation of non-Prussian nationals who had lived in Prussia for substantial time periods (mostly Poles and Jews) and the ban on the building of houses by non-Germans (see Drzymała's van). Germanisation policy in schools also took the form of abuse of Polish children by Prussian officials (see Września). Germanisation unintentionally stimulated resistance, usually in the form of home schooling and tighter unity in the minority groups.

POLONIZATION...goooood!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polonization

"...can be seen as an example of cultural assimilation."

GERMANIZATION/RUSSIFICATION....baaaaaad!

"...mostly forcible assimilationist policies, implemented by other European powers that have aspired to regional dominance."

Lukasz, Przemas, I'm surprised you've been talking to this Nazi creep Butburst Boy. It seems he's not a real German either, but a Silesian 'ethnik' by origin. Those are the worst troublemakers and Polonophobes.

Russians Czech Romanians Slovaks ... nobody wanted to look on them ... they should be happy we havent used death industry their bulid in Poland and they were only expeled ...

as to Polonisation/Germanisation/Russyfication ask Ukrainians and Lithuenians why do they prefere Poles than Russians and Germans ...

Russians Czech Romanians Slovaks

- Well, the Slovaks and Romanians (and Hungarians and Bulgarians) were on the Nazi Germany's side in WWII. And so were the Russians - until June 1941.

Impudent people twisting facts, such as Buttburst, are a fact of life, Lukaszek. But we're intelligent enough to demolish their lies, aren't we?

ok so maybe one intereting fact for you BB ... in place where my ansestors lived there were Germans too ... after the war all Germans were expeled by law ... but there was one family who was helping Poles during WWII ... my ansestors were members of AK so they were fighting agains Germans and this family were giving informations when Gestapo was coming or what are plans of Germans ... after the war they could stay (gov have taken their land and gave for neighbours but they gave them it back) and they stayed to late '70 they left Poland because during commie time life in Poland was really hard ... but my paretns have been to Germany to visit them and they have been to Poland ... this case show that not all Germans were expeled because they were Germans ...

True. I knew a few German families in Zielona Gora, who decided to stay. I never heard they had been lynched or persecuted.

- Lukasz, I think you are making a mistake by 'explaining' and 'defending' yourself against such Steinbach-style creeps, slanderers and psychopaths like this jolly-piggy here.

It's better to ridicule such crap and reply with insults - such insults that really hurt. Don't you know how to do it, mate? ;)

Don't let them play their manipulative blame-game on you.

Anyhow, you do what you will, you're an adult (I hope).

Ummm...now that is interesting.

When I remember all the troubles my ancestors got through to get the Arier-Nachweis (showing their heritage centuries back) needed to make an officers career in the german army....when they in truth were all slavs!!
(Maybe they were even Jews without knowing it???)

Oh wonder...*makes big eyes*

PS: I have nothing against those few Poles buying land in Germany...but it goes both ways and THAT is important! :)

PPS: And I LOVE to tell you about the coming center....you hate it so much! :):):)
(I would even also prefer a center IN Danzig...directly under your nose!)

Then why are you calling my family "polish collaborateurs"?

Silesia had big german centres you know?
For centuries Silesia was prussian!
Where do you think the millions of people from you did expell came from???

http://www.wroclaw-life.com/wroclaw/history

"...The next chapter in the city's colourful history began in 1741 when King Frederick the Great II seized Lower Silesia and brought it under Prussian rule. It was he who officially gave the city its German name of Breslau (or Prezzla), although it had been used for many centuries before by the large ethnic German population. Wroclaw spent the next two hundred years in German hands and by the end of the 19th century it was the third largest Prussian city behind Berlin and Hamburg, and began to be heavily industrialised. ..."

My grandparents did marry here...as Germans!
