Thanks for the cool video-pity that the sound is out on my (now quite) obsolete computer. I'll try to listen to it at work or on a friend's computer soon though...

John P

Perhaps this thing belongs in the "Global Warming" thread, but I had to share....

Not that you'd be told about it anyway ;-)

assassination btw, is something the US no longer technically participates in (thanks Pres. Carter) so now thousands of nineteen year olds have to risk their necks so 50 year old men can kill each other politely.
Anyway. I'm not in a debating mood today, hope you all had a great weekend.

Watch BBC's special feature on the War on Terror, and it will tell you all you need to know. Just search for "Power of Nightmares" on youTube and it will give you insight on how the War on Terror is either an exaggeration or a cynical smoke and mirrors act designed to make you embrace politicians who promise you safety in return for loyalty - watch it and draw your own conclusions...

whoa this is a long thread. Well obviously the war isn't about the price of Oil or it wouldn't be nearly 5 dollars a gallon over here. There are many reasons why the war happened and it's mostly money based.

Poland has been an ally for better and usually worse for a while now. But what can they do? Become bed mates with Russia/Germany again or continue to **** off Western European nations by siding with America? Seems like a lose-lose situation to me

I would learn more towards arm contracts but also the fact that they knew that once you entered Iraq and more importantly Bagdad there was no exit plan and they would guarantee Republican election victories and basically millions of dollars into their own family pockets for decades

This war just goes on and on without end...

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has extended the tour of 2,200 Marines in Afghanistan, after insisting for months the unit would come home on time.

....and the Taliban just get stronger and stronger!

"The Taliban and their supporters have, without question, grown more effective and more aggressive in recent weeks ... as the casualty figures clearly demonstrate," Mullen told a Pentagon press conference Wednesday.

there isnt an exit strategy because they dont want to leave - that's the point. why do you think the US govt is now pressuring their puppet govt in Iraq to sign the US military base agreements (guaranteeing military bases and immunity for US troops and contractors). Look at a map of the middle east and realize that Uncle Sam is setting up bases all around the oil regions - they are trying to guarantee access to the world's choicest oil fields...

No Dublin John, it hasn't...if you have read many of my other posts, which you probably haven't, as there are so many posts here, I go into great depth about 9-11, the WOT, the traitor Bush and other subjects...this particular thread is so long, if you go back, you will find that I occasionally post, once every month or so, the same answer: NO...the War on Terror is simply another excuse to steal American taxpayers money, and to support the gangster state of Israel...not to mention to drive up the price of oil, by creating fear, and allowing unsupervised speculation in the commodities markets.

Most Polish-Americans are very conservative by nature...and Americans as a whole have gotten so caught up in the love of money and consumerism that they have just 'lost the thread'...but check this out:

shopgirl:
I'll start with my own personal experience as a single mom, with no child support, raising a child alone, away from any family.

My time is largely occupied with my work as a manager, with helping my child with homework, doing housework (cleaning & laundry), child related activities (play dates with friends, girl scouts, packing lunches, preparing for field trips..that stuff), taking care of my pets, the yard, the car, and I also serve on a board of directors that runs the local daycare. I try to go out an walk an hour each day (if possible) for my health and sanity.

I have very little time for tv of any kind. I don't trust most of the news networks out there. There is a lot of stuff happening in every corner of the world each day. It takes a lot of time and energy to ferret out reliable sources of information to protect against bias. I think there are a lot of Americans who are like me, who just don't have the time to pour over newspapers or websites (or they are exhausted when they get home, so they sit there fried in front of a tv, trying to wind down enough to sleep). I get my news in little quick blips here and there (from web or radio)....mostly late at night before I collapse into bed. I cannot be "up" on every development in the world all the time. I doubt if anyone can, unless you work for the media.
When I do hear/watch/read the news, most of it is so frustrating and depressing because I don't know what I can do about it....? I have always voted, try to be a good citizen, give back to my community, be ecologically sensitive.....I try to do what I CAN.
And I am personally offended by all the generic, thoughtless, vitriolic sh!t hurled at the US on this forum every day. I've just about had enough, do you understand me?

Now this is from another thread...I don't know if Shopgirl lives in the US; seems like she does...anyway, mopst people, American or otherwise, have a rough life, trying to make ends meet, raise kids...we live in a stressful world, and sometimes it gets overwhelming: you don't know what you can do...we are up against very rich and powerful people, who have a different agenda than the 'little people'...It is hard to fight them, but at least we can try to see through the lies.

that's the trouble with north american life imo. there's always something else that distracts people from being political, whether it be consumerism or more down to earth concerns, there's alwahys something that distracts people from the real show, often it is the policies from the political show that ends up making people's lives so complicated e.g. how long can a mother be on maternity leave in the u.s.? and canada? How about gm foods, do those have to be labelled? how's your health? how's the small farm doing? it just goes on and on....

This is the point. America has been bombarded with all kinds of stimuli, designed to deflect attention away from what's really happening.

I also think that Iran won't face the same fate as Iraq. The US is in too much debt and wearing thin on troops.

Do you still think the same Mr Z?
