SIM cards in Poland

Hello

I am looking for a SIM card so I can use my phone in Poland. Is there anyone that you folks recommends? I have a Sprint Blackberry 8830 World Phone. I don't want to use the sprint service when I am there because it is expensive as hell.

Orange is more universal, and works better in other countries in Europe, I think.

I use Heyah. It works for me in Poland, and while I'm in the U.S. I received sms messages on it.

I use T-Mobile and would like to take my cell with me to Poland. It has SIM and I believe T-Mobile works in Poland (GSM network?). I'm gonna call them and inquire about it, but an answer from a person who actually used it would be greatly appreciated...

Eurola don't bother...the roaming fees would be murder(and the T-Mobile USA folks will tell you the wrong things trust me) and for about 10usd you can buy a local card with time on it.

Go to a kiosk when you arrive, buy any of the local cards as they are all the same really, and save your hard earned money.

I know sprint roaming in Europe is supposed to be between $1.50 and $2.00 per min. The nice thing with many of the native SIM cards is free incoming calls. This will be important to me to hear from perspective employers. I only have my GF that I would be calling and I hope to be with her most of my vacation.

When I did a net search I found that each SIM provider is nominally differernt. There was one that was a bit more but you kept the same phone number while others can expire if not used.

Unless you are in multiple countries each week and have a company that pays for the phone service...the best way is to just buy local cards. No international plan is cost effective for casual use.

Thanks jones101. It sounds good and easy. I don't need it for chatting, but a quick contact only.

We borrowed an old phone from a relative, and purchased a "starter kit". It included activation fee and a few zloty worth of air time. We topped up the air time as required, and left the phone with the relative when we were done. Maybe an option?

Hello, I moved to Warsaw from UK at beginning of the year. I bought an orange sim card for 5zl which worked fine in my UK handset. All depends whether or not your UK handset is locked by your UK mobile phone company. I was with 02 in UK which was unlocked so I had no problems inserting a new SIM. However if you are with Vodafone there is a chance your phone may be locked. Best bet is to try a friend's SIM in your phone - if that works then a Polish SIM will work. It's easy to top up at any ATM machine. Can get an orange sim from most mobile shops.

One thing that's slightly difficult if you don't speak Polish is that the initial menus are all in Polish. Get a polish speaker to listen to them and switch the lang to English! Then there is no looking back! Hope this helped.
