Small Baltic coast places - where to stay ?

Hello,

I'll go back to Poland in July. I'm planning to stay a few days on the Baltic coast then I'll drive to Mazury near the lake Sniardwy.

For my stay in Mazury, my hotel is already booked but for my stay on the coast, I still haven't made my choice.

1. Would you rather recommend the western part of the coast (near Kolobrzeg for example) or the eastern part (near Gdansk) in order to get the best weather, water and beach ?

2. Which place would you recommend to stay ? I'm looking for a small place. On maps, I can spot places like Rowy, Ustka, Leba. Is it actually possible to stay there (are there any hotels) ?

Thank you

i used to go to the east side of the baltic coast.i 'd like to recommend you a few places on the beautiful HEL peninsula(very narrow and long peninsula, covered with a beautifull forrest).check for jurata or jastarnia.there is an open sea on the north side and gdanska bay on the south side of the peninsula.it has calm and shallow waters enabling easy surfing and swimming.perfcect for watersports and birdwatching(passing birds in the autumn in spring)

also;my brother was in jastrzebia gora which is close to the peninsula and loved this place.there is a site which may help you to find a nice and quiet place there
ring the number.they speak english and german

shoot for the middle.. it's all pretty good but if you are looking for less crowds go in the middle. hotels.. hmm maybe a few in major towns.. otherwise a B&B, a campground or a cabin may be in order. have fun and make sure to try the smoked fish from a one of those little stands. to die for, if you like fish that is. :)

Hi Londonchick,

Nope I haven't been there but my friend has bought some investment land over there. He tells me it's very nice.

I was in Kolobrzeg - awesome place. Fish and chips down at the harbour and lively bars :) And am kicking myself for not bringing my running shoes, as it would have been a brilliant place to go running....

Kołobrzeg is ok, but there are a lot of people to deal with. IMO a place like Chłopy, Sarbinowo, Mielenko or G±ski is more relaxing. Not too many people and a nice atmosphere. I'd stay away from Mielno. a lot of mafia there and there's always a fight. The areas west I'm not to familiar with, but I hear Hel is the #1 rated beach. I think Bwoo may have info about the beaches to the east.
