Well, I had a conversation with a Polish person a while back and he said there is no way they would ban it in Poland - he said that there would be riots :)

Im also not too bothered about the whole thing, I was in Ireland for new year a couple of years ago and smoked less and chatted to people who I probably wouldnt have - when I was outside having a fag...

There are smoking bans in the US and people got used to them. It will just take time to re-program the Polish mind.

well i think there will be a riot in some parts of england. Its OK in the summer, but who wants to go outside in the p%%%%g rain in the winter. My opinion is that there should be smoking and non smoking places or separate rooms.. it is going to affect businesses.. of course we will get used to it, but why should we be dictated to. I am only a part-time smoker, but I have mates who have never smoked and agree with me.... its about freedom of choice.. and if they stop smoking in cars then there are going to be some angry agressive drivers on the road.

Riots just for something healthy?? Huh?

That would be like a peeing section in a non peeing swimming pool. Pointless. Non smoking and smoking sections in a restaurant is the same idea.

dont take much to start a riot these days.. especially in small towns...and I dont mean just a separate area in the same room, but a totally separate room.. like in the olden days.. all pubs used to have smoking rooms.. the same as men only rooms.. not that Im advocating the latter

You can't smoke in bus shelters.

They are raising the price of ciggies in increments until they reach a certain level. In other words they are trying to stop people from smoking by making ciggies too expensive. My L&M Lights have just gone up to 6.40 from 5.85

Your g/f would worry :)

Sapp - I dont actaully have a problem smoking outside - they will try their upmost to accommodate people - heating lamps, little shelters etc., did you know that the divorce rate rose in Irland due to people meeting whilst having a fag :) obviously that's a terrible thing..........

Not sure they have the right to ban someone smoking in their own car thats a bit rough,

Sign of the times, I blame it on that bloke off Record breakers!

That's for similar reasons to using a mobile phone in a car. I think.

I see your point totally, they are getting strict with eating in the car too, some guy got a £100 fine for eating a cheese & onion butty....as for the price of fags its nearly £6.00 here

lots of people still do it.. I lived in Chile for a while and 75% of those people pulled over for using their mobiles whilst driving turned out to have fake ones... for show only.. this was 10 years ago, but it made me laugh.. appearance is everything.

espana -doesnt matter in spain cos you have nice weather most of the year so being outside is not a problem.

You cant even smoke in your own property now, if it is a commercial building. My mate has a business and owns the property and most of his workers work from home, there is only one guy there ( a smoker) but if anyone is caught smoking on the premises after 1st July the business can be closed..
