Yes it will come but will take longer.

You can't go all fancy pansty when the economy is in tatters and people struggle to break even on a good wage

yes sure but it doesnt have a natural effect on you.. it causes many diseases - you start smelling - it leads onto other dangerous subtances.. when i mean natural i mean like a proper human - you see cows they act like cows, dolphins like dolphins, snake like snake humans should act like humans

is this your religious view or your personal view. or are the two interlocked.

the fact that you smell really has no relevance.

what about all the preservatives and other chemicals in food, they have the potential to be cancer causing. should we not eat?

I don't see anything wrong with baning smoking at the restaurants, official buildings, any public places. However, it is silly to ban it even in the taverns. That's what people are going there for, to drink and to smoke. I say - let them. I don't have to be there. There is no smoking in Chicago for a couple of years already and the cigarettes, I think are over $7.00... smoking is a 'luxury' nowadays...and a waste of money.
But, Tobacco companies are still doing well in China, Russia and Europe.

Governments are interested in reducing the expenditure for the National Health Services, removing the various problems associated with smoking does a lot to alleviate the situation.

I'm not preaching, I was off ciggy for a year and went back on a few weeks ago, only smoking in the evenings after the gym tho, 3max per day

They outlawed 10boxes in Ireland today, we're probably a step ahead of the rest of Europe in the fight against smoking (and a step behind in everything else ;-)

You're right. I think the food is a cause for a lot of modern world diseases. Diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular, cancer...they are all linked to food. Cigarettes are just the last nail on the coffin :(

But, we have to eat and we don't have to smoke.

true, but everything is bad for you.

i dont mind the smoking bans coming into effect in australia on the 1st july 2007 as i am social smoker and only do so while im drinking. this may force me to kick the habit.

but people like adiliski preaching to people their beliefs is a bit too much.

FISZ: Yeah...as long as it kills you it's ok :/

tobacco is natural...it is derived from a plant...just like weed.

yeah with 4000 chemicals added to it

What dangerous substance does smoking cigarettes cause you to do. This is some more BS you make up. Smoking cigs in no way has an influences people to take drugs. Do you say the same for Hukka's?

You have more than one friend this happened to? Shame.

I've never heard of this happening to anyone. Maybe Marijuana can be a gateway drug for some, but niccotine? Highly doubt it. IMHO.

ur choice to beleive it, i gain nothing by making things up.. from my frtiends who never smoke cigs and those who do - the ones who never smoked have never engaged in drugs and those who have smoked a percentage of them have.. just talking from experience...

well, if you feel safe with eating food that is sprayed with pesticides and preservatives then you should have no problem smoking. increases in cancer and other diseases have not only increased because of smoking but all the chemicals we now use.

this is pure crap...this has more to with the indivdual personality than tobacco.

the truth is that as a student ( i started studying in Poland, and now I am on the second year in Cornwall ) I can see that there is definately more young people smoking in UK than in Poland. I mean DEFINATELY.

The problem with Poland is that they simply don't want to ban smoking. People would get over it.

major cigarette companies have invested phenominal amounts in the polish over recent years... there is a desire to protect this investment for as long as possible

The government has no business involving itself in this matter...the curious thing is: do
a search & find out who actually owns & runs these tobacco companies...you might find the names interesting...also, the prices just keep going up & up...I first bought a pack
of Marlboros about 1966, and the price was 49 cents US...now Marlboros are about
$4.50 a pack in Pennsylvania...when I lived in the UK in the late 90's, cigs were about
$7.70 US for a 20-pack, and because of this high price, they also sold 10-packs, about
$4 US...so the tobacco companies are still raking it in...but this ban: in Philadelphia we
have a politically correct/corrupt mayor & city council, and they banned smoking in all
bars in the city that sold food...this ban has hurt business, and you see the ridiculous
spectacle of people standing in front of bars, smoking cigarettes...and, of course, they
are not allowed to take their beer or drink out with them when they smoke!

I think the point of gov't is to interfere. We may just not like what it interferes
your ok with roads until they build on through your back garden

education, until they start teaching creationism (lets say)

and health. smoking IS a health issue. They can ID how much is being spent on health for smoking related treatments - in the UK & IRE it was a sizable amount justifying such a state intervention.

its my opinion

to joepilsudski, i agree with you about it hurting business. I'm not a smoker but i don't care if people around me smoke, i've come to the conclusion that i'm going to die of cancer someday anyways, for one cause there are so many types of cancer out there, and two, i'm a big smokeless tobacco user (whose thinking about quitting but probably won't...for a while anyways) idk, i think smokers should be respectful of others wishes to not smoke around them, but i don't think they shouldn't be allowed to smoke. and taking smoking out of bars? wtf is up with that, that's like the best place to smoke...i guess, besides outside. haha.

Does anyone honestly believe they want people to stop smoking with all the money they're raking in via taxes. No they'll make a show of it by keep putting up the tax, but if everyone gave up smoking each country would be billions a year short in taxes, and then we can ask them nice anti-smoking zealots how they like subsiding the government now that no-one partakes in the smelly habit.

Smokers, get in first, call for an outright ban on the sale of tobacco, stuff the antis and governments. Turn the tables.

As for the poster that said the Polish will have to have to re-programmed. You should be ashamed of yourself after your country was dictated by the Communists. All Poland has done now is replace one dictatorship with another, the EU.

Nxt on the list of EU bans is Polish Vodka.

they have a law in some US states where it is banned in places where children would possiby be but not in bars...that seems like somewhat of a happy medium - that way you can still smoke while drinking.

Helps keep non-smoking vegetarians happy too :)

As a non smoker I have breathed in more passive smoke since the ban than before it…….. Every time I walk through the main gate at work, I have to walk through a fog of smokers, who never troubled me when they had a smoking room.

When I walk down the street, every office/shop doorway I pass, a group of people are stood on the pavement filling the area with smoke....................... What is wrong with giving people designated areas? I can choose not to go into those areas.

Just my pennies worth

Having stopped smoking again, I am now a confirmed passive smoker, & think all establishments should have a smoking room as in times past, where I can get my kicks

i guess you have heard of smirting... smoking and flirting ..where people get together over a fag outside the pub.. well now there is smurking.. smoking and lurking.. where non-smokers join the smokers outside the pubs so they can chat up the talent... soon there will be no need for pubs. Everyone just go to the off licence and meet for drinks in the park, smoking or non smoking welcome.. oh sorry, Polish men already do that :)
