I find that I am quite keen on folk dancing, watching that is since I can't dance(:

A few examples that I like:

Starting from my region of origin

And something a little further afield and outside of Poland. I find that I do like this Hungarian dance.

I've never seen any Polish folk dancing, looks like good craic though, wish they had something cool like that in smelly Kato, back at home we'd call that a session and many many pints of guinness would be drank :)

I really enjoyed that, I think i have only seen this type of dance once before, is it specific to a certain part of england?

I guess I am more familiar with Morris dancing. The other day i saw a demonstration of English clog dancing, quite interesting.

And I am obviously familiar with Scottish dancing, which I really like.

Abbot's Bromley Horn Dance, it takes place in September and goes on all day, visiting every farm and village in the area. Carbon dating on the antlers show them to be at least 1,000 years old, the dance is mentioned in 12th century writings, so it's very old

note the horse in the line-up, here's another one that takes place on Mayday where only the horse dances

Yes I've seen a few those. And with plenty of 'boobage', it brings back memories(:

Me? Only folk dancing Ive ever done was "Cossak" and hopefully there isnt any footage on you tube ;)
Its probably treason to say it,but Ive never been impressed with Scottish dancing TBH,Oh,Im sure there is an "art" to it but its a bit fluffy and twee for me.
Saw these guys live when I was a Kid, so @ 2.15 is my idea of "Sword Dancing" ! :)

Impressive, and it looks quite complicated.

You've obviously never done the end-of-the-night Strip the Willow on the Renfrew Ferry's Friday night ceilidh. Rollerball without the wheeels!

I've done a fair bit of Polish dancing in villages and barns. My wife plays trad music and I worked with a theatre group who went into the dark areas off the map. Oberek's at midnight around a candle... Polka's where people fell through the floor of the farmhouse... playing drums until the skin left my knuckles and the blood flowed... all good fun.

Yeah, my Polish friends were impressed with Scottish Ceildh dancing to. . . . . if you haven't got bruises at the end of the night you've been doing it wrong!

Up in Inverness they mix Ceildh with Techno - wierd. . . . . . .
