That nice German-English couple I know have a 2.5 year old daughter. She's cute- blond and blue Barbie doll.

I just want to say this - not that I have my own kids already, but 2.5 seems a little early for a contest of wills. Children are animals and nothing more. She can't bang the spoon on the table, etc. She's more and more restless and looks very tired. Probably she cries instead of sleeping.

Not sure if that's normal in Germany.

Biologically we are all animals. Just a particularly cruel species.

Sounds like a case of the Terrible twos.

A child developmental stage which normally occurs around the age of two (but can start earlier) and consists of toddlers often saying no and throwing temper tantrums.

'Nuff said.

Once you do all previously placed bets about how you'll behave with them (and I placed a fair few) are off.
