Eat goulash from a cat and a steak from a dog in Poland!

Jakub Pham is a Pole, but his parents come from Vietnam. Every country has its customs; he eats cat and dog's meat.
He heard about the closing of an animal shelter in Celestynowo, and got an idea of openning a restaurant in Poland, which serves our pets' meat.

Many organizations fight to prevent opening such a place. Animal shelters consider not letting Asians adopt dogs and cats.

One person's pet is another person's livestock. And vice versa. I wonder what it tastes like?

I've heard that the British don't eat carps like Poles do. Clearly, Poles shouldn't be allowed to go anywhere near British lakes and ponds.

Seriously, The dog-eating thing is usually confined to the outlying areas in these countries. Friend of mine has a Korean wife - Rover is not on the menu.

Just last week I had nice exchange with a Korean lady about culinary arts of our respective cultures, sorry to disappoint you but it seems that poor Reksio is on the menu not only in Vietnam.

I have been much more disappointed by badly made/cooked dishes with 'usual' ingredients than I have with those containing, shall we say, less conventional ingredients.

I've had sausages in Switzerland made out dog meat. Not too impressed. Tasted like really fatty pork.

Yea, all that isolation in the mountains plays around with your head after a while...

Anyway, I think most people that try it will probably switch back to poultry, pork, or beef for the return visit.

No hoax...It has been reported on many, many web sites from Burma, Vietnam and other places in Asia...The 'Urban Legends' site would also consider alternative views about what really happened on 9-11 'urban legends'...The cannibalism is a very unpleasant topic, as is the subject widespread sex-slavery, paedophile rings worldwide.

As far as eating dogs and monkeys, well, not to my taste, and not something Europeans crave.

I have a question, it's a bit obvious but nonetheless:

What puts a dog's or cat's meat above a cow's or a chicken's?

Is it personality? more of us have cats and dogs as pets, whereas few people have pet chickens and therefore don't relate to or personalise the animal and find it generally easier to eat?

Size is another thing that seems to matter when we talk about death, save the whale but swat a fly.

It just all seems so arbitrary, fuelled by cultural values.

I would not be against eating any dead animal per se but I would be more concerned about the animal's life than when it's dead.
Have you seen how factory hens live? now that is cruel.

My neighbor back in the US has a pet pig. Like a cross between a really big dog and a cat, but smarter.

I guess projection of human characteristics in those animals, whereas chicken and other cattle(!) is just that.
Double morality.;)

And there seem to be a lot of whale teddy bears :)

This is an interesting point, as I think a chicken is so far removed from what some buys in KFC that a real chicken does not even enter their mind.
I think it is fair to kill the animal yourself, you known what you have done and why but the 180 degrees of separation from a chicken to a burger is, in a sense, cowardice.

I'm afraid they are not... Do you know that some people used to kill black cats for it's fur? It is said that it helps for radicular pains.
