Why so many Poles use a second hands clothes?

Yeah.. when I was younger all my clothes were from my mother's friend of a friend of a friend who lives in west Germany and has older kids who are too big for these clothes. They were called "ubrania z rajchu".. oh sweet times, even now I sometimes have to struggle with these old notions.. ; ) "should I buy another pair of trousers.. I mean these are nearly new, just 3 years old... I mean.. I just bought them"

It would be an absolute waste to not use some of these clothes which can be found second hand, as 80% of the time when speaking about high tier makes, the garments have been worn no more than a few times and professionally cleaned (most are dry clean only). Taking into account the resources and labour expended to create these clothes, it's only right that they're used to their full extent. Speaking of famous people dressing oddly, how about Colin Farrell's informal look. I don't think I'll be bidding for his used clothes anytime soon, lol.

I used to buy clothing at thrift stores, not so much now. My mom used to buy a lot of my summer clothing there because the items are cheaper and I usually ended up destroying them, anyway. I bought second hand clothing for a while because it was considered trendy. Every once in a while I'll go to Goodwill and try to find a nice, full length denim skirt when I am in my "born again religious fanatic" impersonation mood.
Another kind of second hand store sells vintage clothes which can give you a one of a kind, "interesting" look at parties.

my dad used to tell my mom to give me my brothers clothes, while all the other
little girls were wearing normal clothes, I didnt mind them from my cousin ( who
was a girl) but not my brothers, I would hide them at the bottom of my drawer for a long
time till it was safe to put in the pile of clothing going out to the thrift store..

one thing about polish, they are really really frugal with money, it was a chore
getting school clothes, but soon as I was able to buy my own, I worked and paid
for them. Paper routes, babysitting, any income was good income.

Why didn't you come up with that answer yourself?
After all this is true in ALL countries.

Some of the most popular stores here in Canada are "dollar stores" (everything for $1.00 or not much more), salvation army and they have this "Value Village" where some people drop used items and others buy them for peanuts.

With economy being in shambles and people loosing jobs left and right, the used "whatever" stores will be even more popular. I'm not even writing about places where people go to get free used clothing and free food. On a regular basis I hear on the radio appeals for those who can to donate more, as increasingly more people are in dire need of basics. And that is in a G7 country.

Anyway, for those disgusted with Polish used clothes stores, here are some for the "classy" Brits.

matteroftaste: I'm shopping at Goodwill sometimes too Good Will gets many new, unused items too. Stores like Macy's and Ross donate their overstock items to thrift stores. A lot of the clothing they donate are name brands. A sincere thanks PF, for putting up with me FIVE terrific years, muah!

I don't talk about some snobs or bohemians who thinks its trendy to wear some second hand stuff. Polish people should feel ashamed cos these shops are more common than any other business. They have no pride of themselves, slave mentality.

What a crock of sh*it!!! Second hand stores are everywhere. A friend of mine recently picked up a very expensive Italian suit at a second hand store for $80. Suit is only 2 years old and was originally $2800 according to research. So don't be such a judgemental snob. Where the hell are you from?

Of course they are, youre giving the impression that the whole of Hollywood and high society in general use these shops. Its only a minority and good PR for those few.

This is very true, but you can get bargains in shops like Next, that sell off end of lines for example for 1 pound an item. And these are brand new, not 2nd hand.

In poorer countries these shops are big business, in the UK, they are charity shops.
