Yes but their bands aren't as big there as they are abroad. Behemoth is the biggest along with Vader and Decapitated.

Is there a metal scene in Poland???;)
We've got one of the biggest and best scenes. Check bands like: Decapitated, Sceptic, Acid Drinkers, Chainsaw, Lux Occulta, Frontside, 1125, Hunter, Vesania, Hate, Kobong, Pneuma, Antigama, Lost Soul, Corruption, Dies Irae, Faust Again (myspace.com/faustagain) and many, many more.

Katowice is a really happening place if u r talking about metal gigs. They have some good venues, the best being Spodek. I watched Tool there in 2006. Nokturnal Mortum also played at a place called Megaclub. Poland has a lot of metalheads in general. They could use the release from what can be tough living conditions

I really, really liked Lux Occulta's older material.. their demo and first album had nice, slow paced melodic tunes. Dionysos was decent fast paced, Emperor esque melodic Black Metal... I don't like anything so much beyond those, after that Decapitated guy, Vogg, joined, they turned into some lame tech metal... Mother and the Enemy had some interesting songs here and there, but not the tracks that are Metal... Curse Vogg..

The main thing that makes Behemoth is Inferno, his drumming is insane. Listen to Azarath, a Polish Brutal Death Metal band; the drumming is pure slaughter.

As for the clubs:

No Mercy (http://www.no-mercy.pl/) is a well known club with metal/gothic parties going on there (although I've never been there), and Club Rock is a nice place with music of various degrees of "heaviness" on various days (http://www.clubrock.pl/).

Btw. the best metal band name I've ever heard was "Cryptic Vomit", and they had a song (for lack of a better word) called "I throw my crap on your car". Epic.

I agree - I can't tell the difference between one ' song' and the next, let alone any difference between the bands.

Thomas Karlsson and Therion (I suppose they're metal) do some interesting stuff (when you can actually make out Karlsson's lyrics), but so much of it is just grinding assonance.

Blame the new wave of metalcore, which I think it´s one of the worst things ever to happen to metal, after hip hop. All bands are playing in C minor, writting songs that sound all the same, wearing DC clothes, make-up, emo haircuts and so on.

Prog metal is the future.

I like Ihsahn's solo work... though his voice gets really grating after a while... Other than that I can't really get into the 'progressive' stuff.

Slavs don´t have talent for metal...leave it to the vikings!....and to the jews in my case HAH!

Funny but when i think Metal i dont think Jew.

BrutalButcher:
There are a bunch of talented Jewish musicians out there and some of them are playing in metal bands

So youre already back peddling now youve been flagged. It would stand to mathematical averages that SOME ethnic Jews born in America would end up playing in metal bands.

How many are actually from israel?

BrutalButcher:
Mike Portnoy

Mike is ethnically Jewish but does not practice Judaism religiously

BrutalButcher:
Scott Ian or Jordan Rudess

Were both born to Jewish families in New York thats it. In anycase youve mentioned three from thousands so hardly anything to brag about is it runt?

So youre statement yet again is just bull Shite as usual..

How many should I mention?

Considering your brag a few more than three even better one complete Jewish succesful metal band atleast i would say.

BrutalButcher:
How many British people exist? How many are playing in great metal bands like Iron Maiden?

Statistically many more than Jews thats for sure. Arent you a musician? based on that you should be more qualified than anyone hewre to post accurate facts and figures.

Face it even a subject like Music which is your full time occupation and you cant even provide accurate information, what hope have you got of getting anything else right.

I just listen'd to Darzamat's 'Solfernus' Path' all the way through, and it's actually really good. I was sceptical about it for a bit because the sample they gave out was blah, but the record itself has a lot of really good material.... I hope they keep at it, and I'll just forget about the previous atrocities when they were signed with Metal Mind; they to have achieved more creative freedom.

Listen to Hermh, they're a Polish band similar to what those guys are doing right now.
Dimmu Borgir had a few so so albums in the past, but now they're not very good.
