stand around in the market square and get hit in the face by fireworks thrown by drunken idiots

New Year celebrations in Polish cities should come with a mandatory set of safety goggles

I have not been to Krakow for New Years Eve for som 6 years but the last time I went it was a fantastic night. Live groups on the Rynek and thousands of people having a party. The only problem that night was getting some sfood and drinks, everywhere was booked solid for private party's and most had their doors closed.

Apart from the Live music on the rynek, it's mainly private parties - The last time i was there we organised our own party, u make your own atmosphere. It's awesome!

I was really looking forward to spending New Year's Eve in Krakow because it's my first year living here. Imagine my disappointment when I found out there's not even going to be live music and it'll only last about an hour due to the "difficult financial situation". Where do I know it from? An article in Gazeta Krakowska.
