I like Julia and Klaudia on that list (also Izabela and Emilia, but less).
And you could create a poll (with single or multiple choice option), there's such an option when you start a new thread.

Very strange that you put your trust in us to help decide your baby's name.

However, if it helps, I'll go for Izabela and Sabina. Maybe Emilia.

I do understand your problem though. And I wish you both well.

I was thinking that as well.

I knew a couple who wrote all the names they liked on to pieces of paper and placed them in a bag. when their son was born, the first name to be pulled out was his first name and the second one out his middle name. His middle name is Fergus after his mother's pet ferret she had as a child, the dad never realised she sneaked that one in. Honestly, that's true.

I am just curious with the "outside" opinions other than my own family, & friends - my dad is pretty picky, & my mom said "Izabela" or "Zocha" (I tried explaining to her that Zocha is not a great idea to name your kid in North America=P only in Poland).

Thanks! =D

Daisy,

That's wonderful. LOL. It just goes to show that names are a very personal thing. And at the same time so difficult to choose.

Kasia :P

that is my name =)

to this day - non-Polish people can't pronounce my name properly when being called =(they read "Kasia" - Kay-asia, or Ka-cia! not Ka-sha.

This isn't polish, but what about Alessa or Alessandra?

Other than than, I like Marcelina (the long form for Celina)

This isn't polish, but (...)

Most names in Poland aren't Polish, they are either Latin, Greek or Hebrew/Arameic (from Bible), there's a small group of names with old Slavic roots, but mostly for men, I guess.

Kennedy Rose:
what about Alessa or Alessandra?

And in Polish it would be just Aleksandra :)
Quite popular (I think that the male version Aleksander is less common, but I may be wrong). The most common diminuitive for Aleksandra is Ola

Given only those to choose from I'd rank them in this order:
Celina
Julia
Klaudia
Emilia
Izabela (or Izabella)
Cecylia
Sabina
Olivia (Oliwia) - I hate this one, esp. its pet form Oliwka...sounds like something I spear with a toothpick in my drink.
But if there were no limits I'd rank the following near the top of my list:
Ewa
Anna
Barbara
Beata
Wanda
Halina
Grażyna

I'd go w/ Emilia- it's a beautiful name for definitely a beautiful girl.

So:

Emilia
Julia
Sabina
Klaudia
Izabela (or Izabella)
Olivia (Oliwia)
Celina
Cecylia

I take the opportunity to ask which Polish female names today may sound ridiculous or strange or funny or too popular or old-fashioned or pretentious...

For examples: I had a colleague in 2007. Her name was Maja and she thought it sounded old-fashioned. As for my girl-friend in 2008, she thought that the name Kasia was too popular and said she was glad not to be called that way, and she wouldn't call her daughter like that either.

So what's the trends and perceptions about girl names in today's Poland?
