Why Poles are so crazy about their country?

I can't really comment on Baltic bread as a whole but the different varieties I tried created a good impression. There is one type of bread here without a label that is to die for too. Bread from Cieszyń to Helsinki is well worth eating!!

Baltic bread makes Polish bread seem like cardboard.

It tends to be a bit moister and that's what I like. Some Polish bread can be dry and stale. However, the zakwas stuff can be good.

Anything that's made with yeast is good on the first day only so usually some chemicals are added to preserve the freshness (and spoil the taste). Bread made eclusively on zakwas stays fresh and is moist, just as you say, Seanus. I've developed an addiction of reading the lists of ingredients, in this way you can find the good stuff. Another method is to go by the price, if a small loaf costs twice or three times as much as a big loaf of the regular white bread, there are some chances that you've found gold :)
It's also worth checking at different places, as every bakery is using its own recipes.

Poland has had to change its spots due to its history. Many are keen to know where they fit in in the overall scheme of things. That's a reason in and of itself.

Polish is over 1000 years, so why don't you come back in about 800 years and then we'll talk about short man complexes and stuff ;)

I'm afraid to comment on this one because it's possible Torq left his computer on while he was in the bathroom or picking up the mail or something and some little kid walked by and posted something really quick when he wasn't looking.

Remember, I'm half Nazi and half savage Indian.

I still think it's short man complex. Possibly because of the 1000 years (is that counting the time while under the thumb of invading countries?). Of course for some, there is something to prove now. I like Polish history, I think there were a lot of very brave people in Polish history... I also think that nationalists are a cancer on society.

2010 - 966 = 1044 years counting the period of partitions
1044 - 123 = 921 years as an independent country

Still - 1000 years sounds about right.

I would agree to that statement with a small stipulation that not all people
who are crazy about their country are nationalists.

I am crazy about Poland too, but not a nationalist at all. I appreciate the achievements
of other countries but Poland is more important to me obviously. For example, there are
many breathtaking landscapes around the world but for me my nearby fields and forests
are the most beautiful in the world. The statues and paintings in the cathedrals of
Rome and Paris are amazing, but still I like the wooden sculpture of Saint Virgin Mary
in front of my local parish church much more. Maybe it's sentimental, maybe it's a bit
silly too, but yes - I am crazy about my country.

I guess having a pair of passports probably makes this a bit different for me. There are too many people around the world that have an allegiance for no other reason than their parents f*cked somewhere. It goes back to a pack/herd mentality that usually ends up causing problems.
