Yeah but he is not speaking normally...he speaks like a pretentious person trying to impress everyone...and he does not make good points...AND most of his posts are just a series of questions because he is incapable of understanding anything other's say that doesn't fit into his world.

Personally he's starting to remind me of Chris Eubank!

God help me if I do learn Polish, I will have to be careful not learn complex sentences and not to use words that aren't in ..common use.. if this is the risk of improving a language not my first! Wouldn't want to make the same..mistake. You can't win on this forum. If you don't spell correctly, have bad grammar or use colloquial terms you are ridiculed - or now if you use befitting words, good grammar, emotive language and are as expressive as words can make you, it is still wrong.
jones101 wrote:

On a forum, some people tend to type differently to how they speak. Using the most approptiate words over a forum to make your point can give it the tone that was intended a lot better. It is effective at conveying his meaning. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

I type almost exactly the same way as I speak, only I don't talk with my hooves and I don't type with my tongue.
Or do I?

Some people touch-type, other people struggle with their index fingers, whilst donkeys use their tongues to press the keys.

I rarely do. Depends who I'm talking to. I used to hate saying the word 'yes' at school when asked a question even for it sounded awkwardly formal or something. I'd just nod or 'mhmm' for 'aye' would feel too informal then. I'm a little more properly spoken these days though.

The real reason you aren't fond of cats? In case they prevent you from typing?

Indeed, forsooth.
Yeah. Yep. Yup. Oh yes! Ooh yes! Ah yes! Why, yes. Why aye! Totally. Yes and no. Kind of. Sort of. A bit but not quite. No, not really. Nah! Nope. Nay (donkey does horse impression - would that be an inhorsination?)

The one I really can't stand is 'affirmative'. Get back to your Star Trek bollocks.

But also:

So why not a wiry old geography teacher?

ow come on, lol, really there is none, none at all, i know a lot of polish people and some of them like in any nation in the world are in some way shape or form racist, whether they mean to be or not.

for example, Polish girl, 21, very educated and mature 'I like many people but these arabs are really strange and i don't like any of them really, if i don't have to speak to them i won't'

Polish male 26 'you have so many blacks in your country, why is this, it would never happen in poland'

just two examples, of course there are racists all round the world and sometimes people are racist without meaning to be.

Yes, there is racism. However, I don't find nationalism bad. It keeps everything moving in this world.

I am not sure if Polish are racist or just plain ignorant towards other cultures,a polish girl in my university in Scotland was telling me she has 5 jobs here and some are good paying so why have 5 jobs?...i was then telling her that im applying for a trust fund for some extra money as i am a local and im entitled to this money...she said i was greedy...i think this was a racist remark and a rmark made by some one who is not only greedy but also envious of a far superior more tolerant culture.....

There's no racism in Poland.

?????
I'm pretty sure there is! I love Poland and all, but there needs to be serious work done regarding the racism there. I don't just mean whenever there is a minority to put them on TV to pretend that Poland is multicultural, I mean a serious overhaul to get rid of the racism that exists there.
The fact that people still use 'murzin' (probably spelled that wrong) is pretty telling that racism exists. There's also a distrust/hatred of gypsies and Jews that exist in many places.

i like you because your a realist and unlike a lot of the people on here you recognise the problem in your motherland. Poland as far as i know has a big racial problem, its not the only country, however i'm talking on a polish forum to polish people. As i have said in other posts i know of Polish people who are racist, they are my friends yes, although that does not mean i have to agee with their views. People who are racist i think are just ignorant of other cultures, countries and life in general.

Mali is correct its going to take a long time for racism to be stamped out in Poland, it seems a general trend in post-communist states that racism runs riot. I'm by now way saying the UK is not racist, in fact far from it, however we are more embrassing to other cultures and ways of life

It just feels really really wrong to pretend that everything is perfect. You can't fix a problem if you pretend not to see it.

It totally does, if anyone reads Amnesty International reports they will see how bad the racism is. Gypsies getting beaten, or refused entry into elementary schools, etc.. (oops, I should probably call them Roma, not Gypsies).

How many posts have we seen on PF where a Polish girl is saying that she wants to date a Black guy but her parents will freak if they find out?

I'm by now way saying the UK is not racist, in fact far from it, however we are more embrassing to other cultures and ways of life

Thats because it became illegal (ie anti-discrimination laws) a long time ago, and new generations of people are moving beyond it. Thats what Poland needs - to move on from the current mentality.

Who are you to judge, first of all.

tornado2007 wrote:

So you judge an entire nation on a few racist Polish friends you have? I know a few racist black men that I went to school with years ago in England, and they were far worse than any white man I have ever seen... Does that mean that I see every Nigerian as being racist? No.

tornado2007 wrote:

Again, developing some strange hypothesis.

Perhaps yes, but you will soon find that many average Britons will be fed up with the amount of immigration, and take action.

Both of you make me laugh. You talk about racism, yet you talk about it on a forum and think that will somehow change things. If you are so worried about racism in Poland, go over there and paint slogans, go to demonstrations.. I'm sorry, but the problem really isn't as great as you are making it out to be.

And it doesn't make you laugh that people go on to the forum to complain about 'polonophobia', Poland's history etc..?
Another way of saying 'forum' is 'discussion board', meaning that people are going to be discussing their opinions. Someone made a post saying that there is no racism in Poland, and that's their right to think so. However, I have a different opinion and experience and so I posted my thoughts on this topic. Because people have a differing opinion they shouldn't be discussing it on a forum? How high and mighty of you!

I'm sorry, but the problem really isn't as great as you are making it out to be?

Maybe you'd be right on this one if I would have been arguing from pages 1-21. I'm simply posting my opinion, as is Tornado, as I'm sure you do also.

well first of all mr flipant :) when i have an interest in something i like to find out about it, not just from websites but from the horses mouth, that to me is actual polish people who stand in front of me or sit, either is fine, tell me what they think of racial issues in poland and their own views on visitors and immigrants in their country. I've spoken to more than 1 or 2 so i think i stand in a decent enough position to comment.

Filios1 wrote:

no i think i have read and heard enough from many sources to realise that Poland has a racial problem, don't try and be-little me with your quick comments and cheap shots :)

Filios1 wrote:

hypothesis, how long have you been alive, just look at the racial issues in the former USSR states, i think you'll see what i mean :)

it's a possibility, what action are you thinking of??

No it doesn't, because those topics are actually worthwile discussing and learning about. Talking about racism and how "bad" it is in Poland is hypocritical indeed, as the same problem probably exists in both your countries as well.
Tornado, the UK has had horrible racist driven crimes lately... Poles racism is much more innocent, more likely driven by curiousity. Like for example, an old Pole sees a black man for the first time in his life.. of course he will stare at him. Wouldn't you? That isn't exactly racist..

Not what I said. You can discuss anything you please.

Tornado, what problems are you talking about in the former USSR?
What "sources'" are you looking up? Probably some secular, liberal shite that people like to publish in the Western hempishere about how BAD all the problems are out in the east, and how beautiful they have it in their own countries.

Understandable!
