In my experience, I am always given clapki if I take my shoes off. Sometimes I am told to keep them on, but I always take them off, no matter what. Sign of respect not to bring filth from outside into the home.
Milk in tea? Yes, I sometimes add milk, but I have never seen a Polish person do it.

Another do. Always come with an empty stomach to a Polish home when you are invited. There will be plate fulls of food awaiting you. Manners dictate that you never say Nie Dziekuje when the lady of the household puts out some cake or czasto for you. Always have at least one piece, but never too many. And compliment, say Dziekuje after every meal. Not polite to burp or to fart after a good meal, or to say Oh wow! I am Full! and stretch out, unless it is family.

Have had this happen only once, in Krakow in the old-town. I was stumbling about with some Polish cousins of mine and threw up all over some tables that were set up for some kind of performance or sale for the next morning. Luckily, it was night, and only some teenage girls saw me in my sad state.

Do's = Use ur elbows in queues, u know, just to announce ur presence

Wait JUST outside the lift and stand ur ground as the doors open

Charge onto trams as quickly as possible

Move onto the line of the person walking towards u. If they move, do likewise,
it keeps them guessing and the suspence going

Frown profusely as u hand over ur money and get ur change in a shop

Be sure to peer through those translucent windows when people are doin a no2

Ask for cheese in ur cheeseburger

My biggest don't would be not to ask for extra cabbage in ur hamburger

Just a few thoughts, I tried an Osioł-style posting and I think I failed. Ah well, at least I tried, LOL

If the poster really wants to know, I'll do a more serious posting as I've conducted many classes on the issue here in Gliwice

I have to correct BW, fart in the lift, it breaks the tension. Or stand on their foot and see their reaction

Not true. Most Poles have gentlemanly instincts, and let old people, women, or disabled on first. If it is younger people, yes, you may see a bit of pushing.

Filios1, let me make myself clear from the outset, that was a joke posting. I have had a positive experience with trams here, u know, free riding (na gape) n'all. Just kidding, I agree with u. My postings were a flawed attempt at humour

Oh, sorry then. I find it difficult to detect humour over the internet.

I have to agree with this one. I was shocked at first in US, when I saw young punks on the subway, sitting and not giving up a seat to a little old lady or a man holding to a rail for their dear life, or a woman looking like she is nine months pregnent...cultural, I guess...

Yes, I agree. In the US especially. In Poland, even the young generation and the most goofy looking punks will give up seats for old ladies. That may be changing, but its still alive and well today.
