I got many of my Polish films from Netflix. The selection may not be great, but its better than nothing. As far as any places where you can download it for free, I don't know of any. However, you may want to try The Pirate Bay.

Also, you may not "get" some of the old Polish films unless you are watching it with someone who is familiar with the cultural references. This happened to me while watching Miszu (spelling? I think it translates to The Teddy Bear).

I'd recommend starting with Three Colours White aka Trzy Kolory Bialy by Krzystof Kieslowski.
That's partly because it's a great film, but mostly because I don't know many other Polish films.

I think I saw this film. Is this the film where a lady loses her husband and son in a car accident?

Another Polish film I like is Decalog. It's loosely based on the ten commandments. It was voted by Time Magazine as one of the best movie series in this century.

I guess you mean her daughter, not son.
That's Three Colours: Blue (osioł meant Three Colours: White, which is actually, in parts, a comedy, unlike Blue and Red)

Yeah, probably that's it. I don't remember the exact film details. I remembered that the other characters from the other Colours film had cameo appearances in each one. I believe one of the films involved a boat accident. I think I have to watch it again.

Anyone seen the film " We are all Christs - wszyscy jestesmy Chrystusami" ? Its showing in a few venues in Scotland and I was thinking of going along. I would be interested in peoples opinion.

These posts may help in the time being here and here
*edit*
Well there you go, brilliant find McCoy :)
Except they are rapidshare files and you need to pay a registry fee to download them each month :(

no, not at all. if you dont have an account after downloading one file you have to wait about 75 minutes to continue. Its a little bit uncomfortable cause downloading one movie takes whole day.
If you prefer torrents you can register on torrenty.org ( via sms, cost about 5 pln ). best torrent download tools are utorrent.com & bittorrent.com/download

Sorry, but you the only way to get consistent downloading off rapidshare to to pay the monthly fee, as you can wait for a download free slot, but sometimes they ban your IP for a whole day, so you have to go back the next day to download more parts of your file.
As for torrent I would say that Azureus is a lot more better than the one's you mention as it has the best Bit Torrent client because it doesn't only let you download and share easily your media, but breaks the limits of the "classic" Bit Torrent client allowing you full customization, plug-ins, internal tracker, trackerless and anonymous download (which is hugely important in today's world of MAFI), XML Torrents, IRC Chat and much more.
It's a full program written in a portable language, with the best interface I've ever seen in a Bit Torrent program.

That's new to me. I download some volleyball matches from rapidshare, and it's really nothing like you say :)
You choose a link with file, then the option "free download" (no need for a Premium User paid account) and wait about 90 seconds, put in a code (4 characters - letters and digits), if you're lucky and they're having happy Hour you don't even have to wait those 90 seconds.
After the file is downloaded, you need to change your IP address, for me it's quite easy, I re-start the router and I can download the next file. Only sometimes the new IP is too close to the previous, so you have to repeat the process.

That's fine but when you have a static IP it's not much good, and I have tried proxies with Rapidshare and all sorts but never with any real success.
If you can suggest another way Krzysztof I would be very grateful :)

Why want you to watch polish films? They're awful, without any modernity, deeper sense, they're just milk-and-water, there sex, nudity, even spliffs are taboo, probably censored.
Young people (15-25) are intentionally omitted, ZERO/NULL productions for them, even imported series are censored, for example none of polish TV Stations is brave enough, to import 'Shameless' or 'Skins' from UK....it's "socially forbidden"... ******* awesome...

Fortunately, young audience, is downloading it via P2P.
And this way I recommend to you.

If you want to find good films, even legal(!) - (old black-and-white films) you should visit "osloskop . net" URL,
You shan't download new films, made after collapse of PRL......whatever...

Katyn!! but I do understand what you mean as they are kinda limited by the language...would have been interesting to see how Katyn would have succeeded if it had been in English.
