Are there any Polish legends or folklore that aren't too popular to those who aren't in Poland? I already know about the Dragon of Wawel Hill and all those good things.

haunted places, mythical creatures, legendary hereos, etc. Educate me if you will. I love hearing these stories and would like to hear about them if you know them. Before anybody says Google, I've already tried before. I always get the same results.

I wouldn't consider myself Polish if I didn't. Their like Poland's Romulus and Remus. Except 2 of them form other countries and nobody dies. :]

I was hunted by a Rah-Rah when I was a kid... It had a long, red, bleeding theeth...I never seen it, but every time i wanted to venture outside (when it was dark), my mum was warning me...it is going to abduct you and you never come home...scary.

(How are you kiddo?) I'm glad to see the mysterious cat appearing from time to time.

Great. I got to spend some time with NCAA coaches and trained with a couple of Pros. down in West Virginia for 2 weeks. One of the greatest experiences of my life :]. Well worth the trip.

How have you been?

Hopefully. I'm sure as hell gonna give it a try. I'm trying to decide between University of North Carolina or Ohio State. Both have excellent football programs, but don't really know which one has a better Architecture major. Oh well. I've got time.

So any other children eating legends? Does bigfoot sneak into Polish villages and kidnap the women???

Janosik was a good guy, he took from the rich and gave it to the poor. Zorro like character. Where is he now? Lots of people could use his services.

Laying low. Waiting for a rich oil merchant to walk by and he's gonna steal his Visa, ATM, and passport.

Where the heck is my broom. I'd show Harry Potter what to do with it. Really.
I lived about a 100 km from Łysa Góra in Poland. The witches were flying by so often, you had to be careful not get into an accident with them old broads.

There is a story about Devil Boruta, about Halina Krępianka (she saved her town from Tatars), story about golden duck from Warsaw (not about our Presinednt or Prime Minister:P-people who know something about Poland will understand), story about Bartek the doktor, about the mountain from glass, about the Wadna who didn't want a german husband and many more :)

Thread attached on merging:
Folklore

Hi all. Sorry if this is a double post, I'm not quite sure what I'm doing yet.

I'm doing a semester project on oral tradition, and Polish tradition is my main subject matter. And I need some help finding some of these tales. I can find this book: Polish Folktales and Folklore by Michal Malinowski/Anne Pellowski, but I don't want the tales to be highly edited. So I figured what better place to look than here for tales that are not "Americanized".

If anyone can help, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Honestly, anything that is told over and over in modern times that originated a long time ago.

I also forgot to mention that if anyone can recommend books that would help out it would be great. Or if anyone would be willing to tell the tales themselves and to be cited as a source, that'd be helpful too.

In English only?, just to clarify.

Have you googled it?.
There are lots of legends here in Poland, I am not qualified to tell them but I may be of service to give you key words to google.
The dragon in Wawel.
The sleeping knight in Zakopane.
The two brothers who built the cathedral in Rynek glowny Krakow.
The Mongol who shot the trumpeter with an arrow, while he was warning the town.

I don't know any books but I hope these help you.
