someone told me that whoever is invited to a wedding party has to bring some cash and give it to the young couple as a present so it's not really free :-)

Myself and my beloved were at her cousins recently, we had to put 400 zl into the envelope :| Im still not happy about that

I know lots of interesting, intelligent and witty Polish people and also lots of "halfies" - I think the OP was just maybe unlucky.

My experience of the Polish partying is that they have to be pushed to enjoy it. I hev been out with a wide range of Polish people and most of the guys stand around with a drink in their hand looking at their watches. The girls are a differnt story. They like to dance.

Im interested in what Sadieann said about them being crazy. A crazy night out is one that culminates in something wild, skinny dipping in the Baltic sea etc. The Poles I go out with are far from crazy, they are more conventional if anything. When staying in mazury and drunk I suggested we all go skinny dippuing in the lake. It was as if i asked them to cut their right arms off. Geez chill out

It just depends who you meet. They do have a rather more conservative meaning of what a party is but just look at their clubbers. Oh, yes, that's the 20%, sorry ;)

A break down of this statement.

1. I know all Polish people and have been parting with the lot of them.
2. I did a statistical survey and found that 20% are not fun (how fun is that?).
3. Everyone must like what I like and party the way I think is fun.

Ok seanus, when we party we also drink, sing and dance but I hate it when it gets out of control. What I mean, drink a little slower, sing a little nicer (at least try :-) most of times it works out too, I guess it's the language) and dance (in average Americans dance better than Poles, sorry it's what I've seen).

I bet it works out pretty good especially with unwanted foreigners unless they suffer thru just not to insult the host. :-)

well, I'm talking about my experiences in Poland, I'm not saying that everyone here (including your person) has to feel the same way about it.
As far as being "bored", yes I'm at times. I'm selfemployed and I have a little time here and there to waste it on this PF. I guess, quite a few people here see it the same way :-)

After reading your posts on this thread, it seems like you spent some time here in Poland, visited many places, you were invited to a few parties and all you have to show for your experiences is to complain.
Your stance has also change a lot from your original assertion but that is life, I suppose.
I suppose what I am trying to say is this, have you any interesting to say about your experiences? (I bet you do).

Not to be an ass or anything, but in all the countries i have been to, in the ex east-block Europe, they are a bit more introvert and they are reserved, they do not have the "i dont give a ****" attitude we have in the west, they care when they are sober about what people might think of them and bla bla,,
that totally goes away after they get drunk, which goes compleeeetly the other way, can be fun but it can be annoying as well, had some guys puking in the dancefloor in warsaw...iek

Why don't people try to understand different cultures instead?.
It is well within your rights to make 80% of Polish people seem boring to you but would you not think that a more fruitful life could be had by trying to understand the subtle complexities of another culture.
(I am asking because you have intelligence).

The parties they are talking about is not more than sitting at somebody's apartment, having a lot of alcohol, talking about how it is not fair at work and that's all. Perhaps this is very interesting in Polish standard. You can't expect everyone know what means by fun, anyway, after that amount of Vodka they drank, nothing matter anymore.
