I heard this:

Polish are very intelligent. That is GREAT but also can be GREAT in being a criminal too.
Therefore the ones who streal, and do anything of criminal actions, are often given the opinion then that Poland is full of these types of people.

See my point? Its just that we're good at everything we do. Whatever it is :P

As for do ALL POLISH steal? No - the worst thing I ever did was "innocently" pick up a candy from a store when I was a child. My Mama didn't know about it and I walked out of there with it in my hand until my Mama asked me where I got that from! hehe

Thats all ive done close to stealing. But I was about two years old at the time.... can you blame me for that?? :P

Tyres, thieves.

Again, a lot of nonsense comes from stereotypes. Most of us are familiar with the Germany-Poland car joke.

Formillier? Is this a French verb? Have to ask Polson.

Nah, just being stupid again. Sorry, here we go.

They say that, when the Germans come across the border to buy a second-hand car within Poland, the chances are that it's theirs anyway. It just becomes repossessed again.

....
With motor vehicles in particular illegal trade routes are more common than others. Cars stolen in Britain are often traced to countries in Africa while those stolen in Germany or the Czech Republic may well be sold in Poland or Russia.

New technology is critical to tracking stolen cars. A car's identity can be quickly transmitted to police forces and customs in neighbouring countries.

In the Czech Republic, the records only match current plates, and as there is no system for write-offs, number plates can be easily traded and forged.

This technological deficiency has led to many cars being stolen by placing old plates over the new and traded to clients in Poland and Russia.

So frustrated are detectives that they often joke that the Polish Tourist Board should publish a poster showing an area of beautiful countryside and the caption: "Come to Poland, your car's already here!"

That's one, but there are more...just google!

From what I hear, train theft is pretty bad. Asides from that, thieves will be thieves, regardless of country.

Why the dig at Poland, espana? Train theft appears to be quite common. I told my friend to watch her belongings on her train trip to Mazury. She dozed off at the wrong moment and lost her prize camera.

I think there are very notorious characters all around the world. But in my opinion the Polish guys have a really hungry look of everything they see around.

I think in some cases they even take stuff -and I feel from their display of behaviour pattern they don't give a heck about, as like they deserve to steal somehow-

If I catch them on the act they are going straight outside...zero tolerance here and a b_itchslap is on its way.

I do agree with that polish people are very dishonest . It may not apply to all but to many. Especially in uk there are many recruitment agencies where some what educated polish get employed, they recruit international students and place them in some organisations and pinch off the salary of the students. There are many who are absolutely dishonest and racist as well.

I agree. I've personally noticed no difference in this matter between UK and PL, and a recent survey showed Warsaw as one of the European capitals where a lost wallet is most likely to be returned with the money still in it.

A related issue, better in another thread, is the idea in PL that if something doesn't have a specific owner (e.g.state or communal property) then it belongs to nobody rather than everybody and is fair game to either take or neglect.

That is the point. While it would be ridiculous to say all Poles are honest, polite, and smell like lavender, it is just as stupid to say all Poles are dishonest, rude, and smell foul. I'm done with talking about this and it is for mods to see that threads at least make some sense to start with.

Quite. There could be a good thread here but the title is inflammatory.

I was in Poland and live around many immigrants here in Germany. A thief comes in many sizes, colors and ethnic backgrounds. At one time, this country was bad. But it has become more safe than leaving your belongings or for that fact, walking in America!!!!

Doesn't ebay have some rating system? If the seller is rated ok then it should be safe.
