Polish Rock Music - what do you recommend?

As I am starting to learn Polish, i'm an interesting in purchasing some Polish music cds and have no idea where to start? I love rock music so can anyone please recommend a band or bands? Dziękuję :)

I saw Feel play live a few months ago - and then I met the guys afterwards. Not really rock music, I guess but I liked them enough to buy one of their albums.

McCoy: Siekiera - Misiowie Puszyści Number one for any foreign students of Polish who want to learn song lyrics by heart :) Despite its minimalism, it introduces you to the problem of declension (with nominative and accusative case of the same word, szewc - szewca), and also presents an imperfective verb, zabijać, instead of the more common perfective one, zabić.

For me Siekiera - Moja Aleksandria and early Republika. Maybe some of early Mannam works. If you like death metal polish stuff is a world class.

I would say Riverside or California Stories uncovered... and many more. When it comes to music Poland is great power imo. The sad thing is that not so many outside Poland know how great of a music country Poland actually is.

I agree with DtL, to me Riverside is one of the best Polish bands. I actually just listened to one of their albums i bought last summer ;) 02 Panic Room Luv this one, the guitar part is great, Acronym Love There's also Cynthia Witthoft, it's a band, mostly 'feminine' ;) They make good music, but harsh vids :P

For me: Miguel and the Living Dead, Republika and Żywiołak (though I don't know if they aren't too folk to be still classified as rock). And Riverside - they're good, too.

Yes, I am from Bialystok (I live in London right now) but I don't know much about disco polo. I'm sure there is a thread where you can post your disco polo videos or you can start a new one. The reason why I've started this thread is to share the opinions about a polish rock music with people from all over the world. I hope I've satisfied your curiosity. I've noticed that someone has changed the topic and deleted some of the posts. Is that a standard policy or something :-]? regards
