I read on thenews.pl that more and more teenagers are turning to prostitution in order to fund buying designer clothes , concert tickets , and mobile phones , as they see this as essential to earn respect from their friends.......

Same reason why drug dealers wont, because working just a couple hours a day you can make hundreds of dollars, and its much less work

Perhaps pay in PL is shite! Mcdonald's only pays smth like 4-5zl/hr! Let's say an article of designer clothing costs 300zl (clothing in Poland is ridicously expensive), then a teenager would have to flip burgers for 60-75 hours to earn enough money for it. It's much easier to shag an old foreign sexually repressed fart for 300zl (who will probably be done in 3min). 4zl/hr or 300zl/3min ...... hmmmmmmm
Very sad though.

yeah, it's really bad, when I was teaching in Lublin I went to a club called "U Szewca" and I was offered a quickie waiting in line to the restroom (they had only 2 restrooms). By the way, she was a beautiful young girl. What a waste.

I was parked to take my puppy out and I saw a guy pull in and the little suka jumped in his car. Then 10 minutes later the dude left and she got out waiting for another sucker.
It's sad that they value money more than their morality.

This is not unique to Polish women only. I heard that many women in The USA are turning to this highly paid and always in demand "job"...you know, crisis is here. Hehehehe.
Educated women, sometimes even married, go figure.

I was in Poland last year and as my brother, his wife and my niece drove between Kielce - Jedrzejow, we had also seen the scantily dressed, heavily made up girls waiting for customers on the side of the road. Sad. Only in Europe.
"Our" girls are not that visible. She could even be your neighbor.

can i edit my last post? now that i look at it, it might read like i'm somehow interested in more than just the story....it just seems weird, the teen classes that i run seem to have nothing but good natured kids, maybe it's just that i'm in a small city so these displaced values are less, eh, glamorized...

Thanks wildrover. Seems odd still, i mean is that really representative of Poland (20%) or is this in a couple big cities? Honestly, as sad as it is I can't see much difference between this and what a lot of girls were doing when i went to highschool but I'll be the first to admit I don't have any firsthand account of this so maybe it's more blatant than it appears. I'm still not sure how empirical the evidence is though and it doesn't really mention what percentage of boys or girls are involved.

First, its bizarre to say this is about respect. It has nothing to do with respect, it is about economics. Many young women can earn a large amount of cash and very quickly by using sex as a commodity. They are not all drug addicts either.

Second, it is unfair to say this is limited to Polish people. There are a number of Eastern European and African communities in my country where the women frequently act as prostitutes.
It was quite shocking to me when I encountered it first, as we did not tend to have this in Ireland in the past, but I'm quite sure that some Irish young people must be doing the same nowadays.
And I don't think this is so much a shame for one particular country, just a sign of the times really.

Sex is a tool that women can use to push themselves forward, the same as strength and violence are tools which men can use to propel themselves.
It is simply more socially acceptable to use sex as a commodity, and it always has been.

I have also met the strange notion of women claiming that their country has the best prostitutes and being proud of that.For example ukrainian girls claim that ukrainian pros are the best and the same do russian and czech girls.
I remember one polish girl being very surprised that german women also work as prostitutes.She told me:''How is it possible?German girls are too ugly to cause erection.I think you are misinformed.''

No, not at all. Thailand has one of the biggest sex markets, both for domestic and foregin consumption; Brazil, Japan, East Africa and of course other Eastern European countries such as Russia, Ukraine, etc.

I think the common denominator is an abundance of beautiful women, limited consumption power, globalization, and a burgeoning market of foreign demand. Of course, Japan is an exception in that they have strong consumption power, but many of the world's women are trafficked or relocated to their local market. In the case of teenagers prostituting themselves for luxury products, they have the exact same problem.

the shame of it is not that these girls are so nonshalant and think so little of sex (that's the result of trying to impose double standards, one for boys and one for girls) and I really don't care about that.. For me, the most disturbing aspect is the boundless, stupid materialism for which I see no end. These little heathens are capable of tearing each other to pieces over latest accessories.

there was another thread about this.. and there is a name for the girls that do it for clothes/accessories.. the name escapes me however.. there was a movie in PL made about it and the title was this name... anyway, sad indeed.

Ive actually noticed more protitutes working the roads lately, generally the out of town areas near woods on main roads. In all the time ive lived here (over 4 years) ive never seen one in my area till recently and now three in two weeks.
