I was reading a list of unusual laws and one of them was:
In Krakow, Poland it's not only a crime to have sex with animals, but three-time offenders are shot in the head.

Does anyone know if this is true?

The list, by the way, is here.

Do you really think that anyone is shot in the head for this? I am pretty sure this kind offence is frowned upon though:)

Well, it's on the internet so it must be true! And no doubt Zbigniew Ziobro, down in Krakow, would be well up for it.

I wonder if they just dreamed it up, or is it an exaggeration of the truth?

Nah. Poland is not the US. We haven't got any local or town laws. Also - there is no death penalty in Polish law.

In this case the guy would be charged for indecent behaviour in public an/or for breeching tha Animal Cruelty Act. And of course would be laugh upon for the rest of his life. :)

I knew that - I was just wondering about the origin.

A farmer I knew used (according to him) do something with calves. Not in public or cruel, just very distatsteful. I wonder if it was illegal too.

Jonny, are these "strange" laws actually any stranger than our 'blue' laws here in the States:

1) No liquor served on Sundays before 12 noon!

2) In California, i.e. near and around Sacramento; NO smoking outside or on the street!

3) (rescinded obviously after the 1930's) In certain Southern states, sodomy punishable,
but lynching blacks permissible, indeed photographed and applauded.

The list is quite long-:)

Touche! ;)

You got me scared now, but only for a sec. I think ZZ is mostly out at the Europaean parliament, ridiculing himself there, not here.
JonnyM:

Exaggeration? You think? - Maybe they shoot in the head after 5 times, not only 3:). Because who the hell gets caught 5 times in a row? :D

Agreed, except the part above - of course there are local regulations, but maybe not going as far as death penalty or generally criminal law.
enkidu:
breeching tha Animal Cruelty Act
- I bet someone can easily build a defence line on the basis that he was not victimizing but pleasing the animal.
;)

# In Bakersfield, California, anyone having intercourse with Satan must use a condom. (An asbestos one we presume.)

I guess not to let the Satans breed? At least I know now, where Satan lives.

Maybe they got it off one of the " stag night" sites and they are talking about having sex with " dogs and pigs" slang for NOT pretty girls...

Local regulation are not considered "Law". You can't be charged and sentenced on the basis of local regulations.

Ok, maybe you're right, but isn't it a local law/regulation that a city makes when e.g. there's obligation to clean after your dog makes poo? You can get a ticket if you don't do it. I thought it's local law not countrywide? I found this:

Bit it is nice to see citizens taking care of their neighbourhood too:

Course you can. Many countries have specific laws concerning Railways, for instance.

Here's a "strange" law for you - though I would use a different register..........

The one about losing your driving licence if you have a beer while riding your cycle in the forest or park.

Absolute tossers, and it's high time this social repression was repealed by a normal government which Platforma purports to be.

Not drinking myself, but come summer I will for sure be flouting this.

They would have to introduce the death penalty first(:

It's now been semi-repealed - the court can now decide as to whether the licence is revoked for the offence.

From what one of my students said, the courts are only likely to revoke a licence if it's road-related drunkenness.

Someone I know got sent down for riding a bicycle while drunk. Admittedly he did have a bit of form (all drink related) but it's not like he was endangering anybody except himself!

Shot in the head with what? maybe it refers to whatever position you are in with the animal at the time.

In Scotland there was once a case of a man "riding" a horse. Both he and it were executed and burned.

Very biblical way of dealing. Or wait, maybe it was in Quran... ;)
Anyway, that's what was supposed to be done.

And this Scottish guy should've taken care of his sheep instead of fiddling with a horse :D
