I don't want to argue much , but just look at the German east provinces that where robbed in 1945 , youre still using the same infrastructure. Look at what once was Breslau(Wroclaw) the city does not only comprise of the City square(IE. renovating the city square, but the rest looks like stalingrad in WW2.

you poles really know how to make things filthy and miserable looking.

As a foreigner living here long-term, I can't say that it doesn't sometimes irritate me, but that's the way it is and it's important to get used to that. But with increasing stability, prosperity etc, the next generation here may well change.

I think you got it right, being proud of ones nationality is good provided it is channeled in the right way.

Boy you are not to bright are you? would that be the same infrastructure that the Germans destroyed when retreating in the face of the Russian assault? And if any of it happned to survive, it was destroyed by the Russians. the City that was once called Breslau and now is called Wroclaw (you should get use to the fact by now) was rebuilt by the Poles.

Last i checked all Poles from Wroc³aw use its polish name, given that i'm from Wroc³aw and i never heard anyone using the world Breslau.

I would like to submit my opinion for what it is worth that you will judge for yourselves. I was born in Ireland and have lived in England for over fifty years any knowledge I have of Poland was through my friends who were Free Poles.I can remember them sending parcels back to their relatives in Poland like medicine and other things which were scarce back home.

When reading this thread I go to thinking what my view of Poland was in the early sixties and to me it felt like they were in Prison. The whole soviet block was in prison the ones who were born into it knew no better. But the Poles and others did because their incarceration had been resent and they knew what it was like to be free.

When prisoners are released from a long term gaol sentence it takes time to readjust Poland is going through this now. It will come through it and be all the stronger for it you young Poles are the future of Poland remember the past but focus more on the future.

Let me rephrase it: the title should be "What's wrong with us Polish People?" since I'm a Pole like most of us here. So, what's wrong with us? How come that we, Polish people can't get over the "Chosen Nation" bull crap. Why do we have to view everything in the World trough the prism of our Nationality? Why every other subject on this message board must sound something like:

"About the superiority of Polish Culture over the Muslim Culture",
"How dare those German bustards this and that... "
"Those damned Jews - 'enough said"

... And so on and so on.

Hey, I have some news for you - WWII is over for almost 70 years and nobody cares. Poland has never been the Center of the Universe in spite of what we have been told in school and from the family. There are practically zero Jews and/or Muslims living in Poland today, which means that most of you have never even met a Jew or a Muslim, so what the heck are you ******** about?

Is it some kind of an inferiority complex? I know the answer, because we all are suffering from the same disease - yes, it is an inferiority complex.



When you GENERALIZE about Polish people and say:

All I can say is SPEAK FOR YOURSELF.

Frankly people of any group of people could be accused of what you accuse Poles of.

This notion that Poles think "they are the center of the universe" is the first time I heard anything like this. And by the way, don't most people think that way? Come to ethnic areas of the US and you will see how ethno-centric many of these groups are. Read ethnic and racial newspapers of other groups to see how ethno-centric they are.

As for your description of Poles, I don't know too many Polish Americans that are like that.

Everyone who has dealt with Poles or has lived in Poland for a while has realized that the Poles in general have a huge complex towards life. Poland’s contributions to the world are basically negligible. Today Poland is a post-communist country with bad economic situation for most of the people and with a very low standard of living compared to Western Europe, forcing Poles to emigrate.

Most of Polish cities look grayish and dirty. Poles usually have a ‘’nie moge’’ attitude towards work and it seems that they make an effort to be inefficient and unproductive, while they still complain for being paid low wages. Most of the jobs in Poland are in bureaucratic areas, administration, guards, and so on…. There are very little people really working and producing goods for the country. Indeed in order for the government to pay 50 zl, it needs 100 zl in bureaucratic expenses. With a governmental apparatus like that, it is not wrong to stay that Poland is a failed state. However, the situation in Poland goes beyond the government’s fault or responsibly, it is its people who make of Poland a grayish and dirty country; the Poles. Those insane drivers, those hooligans which fight against each other with no real ideology, those vandals painting graffiti everywhere they can, those lazy and unproductive workers who steal the asphalt for the highways they are building, those who give a bad customer service etc. etc. etc.

As a matter of fact, Poles love to complain and blame someone else for their situation. Quite often they like to find someone to blame in their past and never like to assume responsibilities on their own.

So guys, is it an inferiority or a superiority complex what the Poles have?

Yet in the UK, Polish workers are known for hard work and industriousness, you can ask almost any employer there.

When I travel around Polish cities like this one, the impression I get is of busy bees rushing around. I don't really get that vibe in the UK except perhaps lunchtimes in the City of London areas.

Precisely my impression.

If you want to see a contrast, cross over the border to Lithuania. Poland is a busling, thriving place and Lithuania looks like the Black Death had descended.

You have a point. However not only the rest of Breslau looks like Stalingrad in WW2 but basically all Poland does. The only exceptions are probably the city centers of Breslau, Poznan, Danzig, Krakow and Warsaw.

We should also mention that the train system prior WW2 was by far much better than it is today in Poland. Finally the highways are being built right now with EU money, however the progress is slow and the workers are highly inefficient. I have watched carefully polish construction workers while ''working'' and they really love to procrastinate. Poland asks now for more money to the EU since they couldn't finish the highways with the initially assigned budget. I am not surprised when the workers steal the asphalt and the rest are only trying to get their pockets full.

Poland is a failed state !

No. As long as the Poles don't get over their inferiority complex, Poland will remain a failed state.

The inferiority complex Poles have doesn't allow them to handle things on their own,, such as a country. If Poland wouldn't had joined the EU, the little progress in Poland due to the EU funding wouldn't be there,, .e.g. no highways, no new train stations, no new airports. Such things wouldn't be possible if Poland were alone.The Poles cannot do those things on their own.

And more ironic is to see who it is who are building highways etc in the UK.

The help with infrastructure is to speed up the potential of Poland. They are not charitable hand outs.

Indeed, Poland has given something like 12billion to help bail out the Euro, this is only possible with the growth in the economy and greatly help with the infrastructure investments.

Building roads makes jobs and increases tax income.

Another typical example of the polish inferiority complex is when Poles start to look at nations which are worse than theirs and by this way they want to feel better. Something like ''Yeah Polska rules, look at Uganda they are dying, while we here in Poland, we live a comfortable life ''

Those who still claim Poland is a growing economy are beyond their inferiority complex. They start to believe things which are not. Well, I don't blame them, Poles are a complex society with huge complex :)

it sucks that they upped the retirement age but it's a direct result of a socialized system with mass emigration. people don't work and pay into it, the well runs dry.

No, the well run dry because they haven't maintained them(they get paid for that) and on the top of it they were selling water on the black market.
Fuzz, after four years in Poland you still do not get it! They kept the system to manipulate people to vote them ..and now they don't need (or they think so) people to vote them, they say - hey we cannot afford that ...!
