A bloody good idea. If you're teaching, don't forget to remind them about Teachers' Day...

Womens' Day has a strong political point about equality and human rights. It may have turned into just giving flowers to women who now get equal pay etc, but still they have more often than not to do a day's work and then go home to do the full housewife thing.

So flowers are nice, really, and forgetting to buy them would be noticed. It also reminds people of Womens' Day, and the reasons for having it as well as keeping it alive round the world, especially in countries where it is very much needed.

There's no "Boy's Day", there are however "Days of Men" and the celebrations begin every year on March 9th and go on until March 7th the following year.

PS. I like chocolate! :)

So here's to all the PF women, ladies, girls, madonnas, chicks, princesses, kobiety, dziewczęta, dziewczynki, księżniczki, koteczki, słoneczki, żabki, etc., etc. :-)))

You can't be serious! Is that going to become the next big holiday that requires buying ****? No no no! We don't need another one. We have enough already. Hope it doesn't come over here.

Read in Russia there's professional women walking around drunk in their business suits on this day.

Ok,so maybe I spoke too soon :)...Its got fek all to do with buying flowers here.....maybe in Poland its been turned into a commercial venture...TBH the only publicity Ive seen for it here in Yorkshire is little flyers for Dzien Kobietta (sp) all flowery and st valentinesy.......so looks like a worthy cause has been turned into naff comercialism in Poland before the UK ....:)

I think Poland had Women's Day before they had International Women's Day. Hence the commercialism has always been here.

I would say the opposite. If a group gets a holiday designated to them IMHO is a way of saying "You are not equal and historically you never were, but we love and cherish you nevertheless". Where is the white man's day, after all?

Especially in communism, the women were cornered into believing they have equal rights, but how many of them actually got to take key positions in the country? Also, it's not a secret, that womens' salaries were essentially lower than men's during that time.

right,marynka...your talking about Polands commie inspired "womens day"....those of us not dragged up under the reds think of,ironically, "International Womens day"....which as has been pointed out was never a "holiday" or a reason to give flowers but a day to highlight the plight of women in religious and culturally repressed sociaties......

Flowers are always women's favorite! Just sending them flowers and some little gift at their birthday, wedding anniversary or other holidays will make them ecstatic!
Here is an awesome online florist to recommend, FlowersofChina, which provides high-quality flower product and the one-day delivery service to every city in China.

"Mothers Day" is coming up and I'm certain that my current girlfriend will totally appreciate the mop and bucket I bought her. Women appreciate gifts they can use.
