Jews, according to Biblical sources anyway, were a nomadic people consisting of ten tribes. In addition, they followed certain religious beliefs, endemic to their creed, namely, the worship of ONE God, i.e. monotheism, later to become Christianity.

While the Jewish people are scarcely the only religion which obeys a single deity, they are historically the FIRST.
They are a member of the Caucasian race, but belong to the Semito-Hamitic family (as do the Arabs, Berbers, Tuaregs and quite a few others, most of whom continue to reside in North Africa):-)

Therefore, the Jews are both a religion as well as a socio-linguistic entity, surely though NOT a race!!!

Being fair to our gentile Polish brethren, the Poles are no more or no less 'anti-semitic' (anti-Jewish being more exact, however leave us please not split hairs!) than the Germans, the Austrians the French, the Hungarians, the Croats, the Rumanians, Latvians, Lithuanians, Ukrainians or the Russians.

History too has not been kind to Poland, like the former German Empire, truly a 'land in the middle', with borders constantly changing hands and hence promoting a kind of perfervid nationlistic fervor, unknown to nations with slightly "calmer" histories, such as the Danes, the English or the Swedes.....

I have a good friend who fervently practices the Jewish religion and is raising his family in the Jewish faith. I say it this way because his father was Jewish but his mother was not. He married a first generation Polish woman (she's lovely) who was raised Catholic. So that makes his three children half Polish, and 1/4 English and 1/4 genetically Jewish (whatever that means), yet his children go to synagogue. I sometimes speak Polish with his wife just to remind her kids about that half of their lineage. No one seems to have a problem with that.

By the way sarahk, you seem to have a level head on your shoulders. You don't let the instigators get to you. I like that in a woman.

Not many were actually killed by other Jews but a lot were killed because of other Jews (Jewish Ghetto Police, Gang of Thirteen, Zagiew, etc). czar: Harry can you claim Polish ancestry? yes or no? Interesting point but one which I have to disagree with: whether, to give one example, Thomas Blatt had cut their hair or not, the women whose hair he cut at Sobibor were most certainly going to die. That is very different to the scum in Zagiew etc.

No. I must admit that I tend to find 'Polish'-Americans unpleasant but I do not consider them to be unpleasant by default: I'd simply say that person who claim to be Polish-American often show themselves to be unpleasant individuals.
