Some questions about moving to Poland, I am to teach English

So I am moving to Poland (Elblag) in mid-September to teach English. Everything looks grand right now with the position. This will be something totally new to me. If this position does not work out, there seems to be plenty of other teaching opportunity. Is this correct? Also the contract is for 3,000 (PLN) a month - furnished flat is included in this too. This seems to be pretty good? What do you think? Also, I am not a big spender, but what do you think is adequate to bring money wise? Should I bring some American cash? Is there anything particular I should bring? These might seem a little bit funny to those who have been there - Once again this is new to me, so any serious help would be greatly appreciated. Here or Reidii@adelphia.net. Thanks...

Just adding my two bobs worth, getting 3000zl a month for Polish standards is good money (I assume after tax), if you think about it 100zl a day to spend is quite a lot.
If you intend buying a car or you get snookered by a hot Polish girl, you would need a lot more money.
Just a few things to consider if you speak little Polish and live outside a major city like Warsaw, Krakow, life can get pretty boring and you end up just visiting beer bars, and in winter you stay home and drink yourself stupid.
May sure you have a secure garage if buying a car, otherwise your car will be gone in a flash.
Otherwise Good Luck.

Ps Elblag is the place they make EB beer (a very nice beer) its coat arms logo has a kangaroo.

Thanks for all of the help. I am going to post some questions about shipping in a bit. I am glad I found this forum. Really good information. I'll be out in September and I am looking to get moving. It's going to be big difference from South Florida though. What the hell!

i did all that in Sept 06.

how many hours a month for your 3000zl? is that gross or net?

are your utilities included in the rent? Water, Gas, Power, Strata, Internet, Phone?

"Is there anything particular I should bring? " anything you really can't live without.

Bring as much money as u want. Most places will not take your USD, so get it changed at a kantor.

Get travel insurance with a North American company, with no deductible.

Keatsgray, I hope you have heard of winter in places other than Florida. Gloves, jackets, boots and a warm hat will be nice to have. I'm taking mine.

Take as much money as you can but convert dollars to zl when you get there as the dollar has dropped about 10% since I was there last summer.

You'll be fine.

Hi my Polish friends:
I love poland, because polander are friendly and hard working.
I will like to visit Poland, and find me a beautiful polish girl.
Seem also, poland may be my missionary based.
Do you know of any beautiful, sincere and honest Polish girl, over 18 years older, who want a partner ?
Please let me to know.
Can you please tell me about christian missions in Poland, and the PolishGovernment policy on Christianity. and religions?

Correct me if i am wrong, but they don't produce EB anymore. From what i've heard the brewery was bought by "kompania piwowarska" and they abandoned the productions of EB beer.
