yeah, I love ice hockey too. Wonder what it's gonna be like this time. I hope we'll make at least the top3. I know it's gonna be tough but you never know, we'll see.

The only bit that is worth watching. Bring back Eddie the eagle Edwards the greatest ski jumper ever!

As far as ski jumping, I guess it will go between Austrians, Norwegians and Finns.

Seriously...thought there would have been some interest there.

Well in Ice Hockey, I think Canada and Russia have some of the best teams they have had in a long while.

All we got is Ryan Miller in net, and he is playing poorly at the moment.

I say it goes this way.

Canada
Russia
Czech
I went out on a limb there!

Still like the luge and bobsled though.

Sorry to bang on about it but it does need characters like Eddie Edwards to get a bit of public interest. Even the weather seems not too bothered this year.

To liven it up a bit how about speed skating and you can use knuckle dusters on your opponents. Best snowman contest, team snowball fights, best snowangel, some new events perhaps?

I like it. In the Biathlon, you can shoot other skiers...Well the US always has Boddie Miller, although I think he was kicked off the ski team. Other than that, I remember Apollo Antoine Ohno, and Lindsey Vonn.

Hey it is still 10 times better than the summer Olympics
There is no element of danger in the summer games.

I wish they would, but I dont see it happening.

OK, the first two (either way), I'm pretty convinced about. As far as the 3rd place, it's between USA, Czech, Sweden and Finland.

As far biathlon, well I believe, it's between Germany and Germany and Germany, lol.
Maybe Norwegians and Russians are going to mix it up a little bit.

Oh the Norwegians love this event. I am putting my money on them.
Italy for the slalom...they always seem to do well in that.

heh

The Austrians are good too (of course), one or two Norwegians are always good for a medal and the Russians will found out as doped to the gills again.
(If we take the last Winter Olympics as example).

Germany and Austria should merge again (and be it only for the Olympics)....we would soooo rule! :):):)

Just to refresh the memory:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Winter_Olympics_medal_table

Rank ↓ Nation ↓ Gold ↓ Silver ↓ Bronze ↓ Total ↓

1 Germany (GER) 11 12 6 29
2 United States (USA) 9 9 7 25
3 Austria (AUT) 9 7 7 23
4 Russia (RUS) 8 6 8 22
5 Canada (CAN) 7 10 7 24
6 Sweden (SWE) 7 2 5 14

;)

Ice skating for me. Only one Polish woman and two Polish guys ice skating.
It's sad that the Georgian died today in training after flying off the luge. Many got hurt on the same stretch, it will be interesting to see what happens there.

Wow...i just posted earlier that there is an element of danger to the winter olympics which makes it more interesting to me than the summer.

That's too bad. They haven't had something like that in a long time.

I do like the luge too, one of my friends used to compete in the Jr. Olympics...he hurt himself too one run.

Call me when it's time for the Super-G. I must admit that I have no interest in the summer games, snow perks up my interest in sports considerably!

That's fine man. We can bet on anything basically, lol.

I take bets on ice hockey too, lol

When the Olympics went from amateur athletes who didn't have multi-million dollar sponsor deals to the commercial nonsense it is now I lost interest. It used to be legit and now it's just a big business.

I loved the Cold War era hockey games...the evil USSR vs the west...good times ;)

The majority of the Olympians are amateur. Basically hockey is the only one that has pros. Sponsors are a different story, but hey, why shouldn't they clean up, it isnt like they get paid a ton in their sports.

nly people who buy into the Britney Spears, reality TV lifestyle

Just to inform you, I listen to CCR, CSN, Janis Joplin, James Taylor but also to Kenny G.
etc... You don't hear or see much of it anymore.
I never said that you're missing out something. I said basically that there's nothing wrong about watching sports on TV even if it's all about money nowadays. It's sad but it's true. Everything is commercial nowadays but unfortunately there's nothing we can change about so might just as well do the best out of it and at least try to enjoy the enjoyable and that's sport to me. I have much more against nowadays music. Most of it is crap and even beyond it but it's also a matter of taste so let it be. (by the way "let it be" is one of my favorite songs ever, lol)

Keep to the topic please, this is NOT a music thread
