Who do you think is currently the best Polish soccer player? I need to know.

hello  Oct 12, 06, 13:28    #2
It depends - I would say Poles have one of the best goalkeepers in the world (Kowalewski, Kuszczak, Dudek, Fabianski, Pawelek, Bialkowski...). As far as the field players are concerned, I would say Smolarek and Jelen play on a good European (if not world) level. There are many prospective, young players - Brozek, Blaszczykowski, Janczyk, Matusiak, and a few in the Premier ship (don't recall their names now).

Tlum  Oct 12, 06, 13:34    #3
I would add Zurawski (even though his years of fame have been reached).

scouser  Oct 12, 06, 13:35    #4
jelen i like him but smolerek is the best player at the moment but coz im a liverpool fc fan i will always love dudek!

hello  Oct 12, 06, 13:39    #5
Well, Smolarek is very famous now (not only in Poland I think) after scoring 2 goals against Portugal (plus one goal against Kazachstan). Jelen has even bigger potential - but they should allow him to play in the front, not on the side like he currently plays in Auxerre.

Dudek - yeah, he was on top, but now unfortunately his career seems to be on the deep slope (mostly because of the Liverpool coach who strongly prefers his people).

agreed mate

A year ago Szymkowiak was one of the best Polish midfielders, but now he's getting twice as weak as Zurawski (not to mention Kosowski - the first Pole since a few years in the Italian Premier League).

SMOLAREK BY FAR!!! He has led us in the past 3 games for euro 2008 qualifying, right now he is the hero of the national team!

moody  Oct 12, 06, 14:28    #9
Why did the Poles forget about Frankowski or Olisabebe? They scored even more goals in the important games.

omg...people need to stop mentioning Olisadebe...why do you think he doesn't ever play for his club team??? He is no good an injury prone, sure he was great for us for half a year but that is in the past now...same with Frankowski, he doesn't even play for his club team anymore and hasn't scored a goal in over a year i believe...

moody  Oct 12, 06, 14:33    #11
As far as I know there are more POlish players that don't play in their clubs but still are recruited for the national games.. For example Krzynowek or Mila or Szymkowiak. Zurawski isn't in the first Celtic team either.

Many players play for the Ekstraklasa meanwhile Zurawski was one of the best players for Celtic until very recently.

moody  Oct 12, 06, 14:38    #13
What about Niedzielan? He's still young and as far as I remember was very fast --

Tlum  Oct 12, 06, 14:48    #14
Niedzielan is still good, but don't have luck. It seems he's often got health problems.

fans  Oct 12, 06, 17:14    #15
I would say Lewandowski is a very solid player now. His playing in Shahtar, Ukraine, made him a lot of better than when he was in Wisla Krakow.

chriz  Oct 13, 06, 13:08    #16
Artur Boruc (sometimes too slow but for a goal keeper he's OK).

ola123  Oct 15, 06, 12:55    #17
For many years it was Maciej Żurawski but he is 30 now and not as good as he was anymore, sadly.

Smolarek from Borussia is good but had bad spring in Bundesliga, now he started to score again and is in a good form.

But currently the best polish player is Ireneusz Jelen - striker/right winger from Auxerre unfortunately injuried now.

We have bunch of great goalkeepers too: Kowalewski, Boruc, Kuszczak, Dudek - not good anymore but was world class in his time, we have young Fabianski and Bialkowski too.

davlaurjen  Oct 15, 06, 13:30    #18
Artur Boruc is playing well for Celtic but Maciej Zurawski is not.

ola123  Oct 15, 06, 13:37    #19
Zurawski made mistake going abroad imo. He was great player in Poland and shouldnt have broken his career like that.

I think his mistake was to go abroad 5 years too late. He achieved everything in Poland and frankly made little money compared to what he makes now in not so great club. Jelen was a little wiser going at the age of 25 abroad.

SO SMOLAREKS CLUB TEAM IS AUXERRE??????????

moody  Oct 15, 06, 16:25    #22
Why do you think so? Smolarek plays in Borussia Dortmund and Jelen in Auxerre.

I would agree with that, he is still very valuable player in NT but would be better staying in homeland, but oh well...money.

I start to watch american football it is very good but hard to understand the rules.

walus  Oct 15, 06, 20:38    #26
Zurawski is a valuable soccer player in general for the Polish national team as he's one of the most intelligent Polish players. Not only he can score, but he has many assists (being a forward player). I think Celtic will be the last serious team for him - maybe he'll come back to Poland but then he won't be a star anymore.

pluto  Oct 15, 06, 23:01    #27
Polish soccer is currently on an average level - you need more good coaches and focus on young players. By "young" I don't mean those who are 20 or 21 years old - I mean those who are 10-16 years old. Then Poland will succeed. It's a shame you call a player who is 25 years old a "young" player - such player will end his career in 5-7 years so he is not that young anymore. Poland has good potential but you need to start using your head.

Maybe you live in your little, Polish world where everything "has been discussed". I know, the best thing Poles can do is to "discuss" and then do nothing (maybe have a drink or two before another discussion). The fact that it was "discussed" in Poland on your small yard doesn't mean it was discussed in the English language world.

It doesnt depent on ppl what is going to happen it depends on PZPN so what do you think normal ppl shoul do, make training courses and become coaches or what? You have just done the same that you described and criticized- you tried to discuss what to do! So what is your point?
What are you doing for football in your country?
And stop being such a moron clearly having something against polish people. But honestly I dont care I wont discuss with person with such an atiitude. It makes no sense and steals my time.
