Indeed

This one might also be worth looking at. If I remember, the Polish cricket team recently beat Germany, and there are a couple of expat teams in Warsaw. The Indian community in Raszyn would certainly know about it.

Yes. Whereas Pilka reczna, Beach Vollleyball etc aren't everyone's idea of normal.

It's a shame Poland doesn't have its own original sport, instead of just being derivative and playing foreign ones...

there are asians in poland(indians, pakistanis, bangladeshi, also hong kong). if cricket is organised in the cities like wroclaw where there are a lot of indians like me, then im sure we will join and play on regular basis.
ofcourse there is a shortage of everything required but cricket doesnt really need anything more than stumps, bat, balls, guards and a normal size ground. except the latter, everything's at ebay. and we indians can bring the whole equipments if there are peoples interested.

Recently there was a Cricket World Cup! After I heard about it from Polish forums from an Ausralian friend, I tried to follow it a little. I think it is an interesting game ... but I don't know all the rules. At best I could gather that there are two forms of the game.

Well in any condition ... here I read that we beat Germany in this game! It means Poles are naturally very skilled to do better in this game. I would really like to learn more about it, and welcome you to teach in my country :) ...

Have a good time!

Why not learn something new?

It is played by many countries nowadays, what if we become excellent like Australia in this game someday? I read reviews in internet about Australia being the masters of this game!

Polish Australian Cricketer:

Jason Krejza (cricket) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_Australian
Michael Kasprowicz - http://wn.com/Polish_Australian; http://www.theage.com.au/sport/cricket/it-is-time-to-give-all-a-go-201 10114-19rff.html

So perhaps Poland does have a cricketing gene somewhere inside it? ... yeah WHY NOT?!!!!!

@gumishu well atleast those who do play cricket will be interested, like me :)

@lodz_the_boat yes there was a world cup held in India and India won the world cup.
there are actually many formats of the game. like in english county cricket, there are 4-days test matches and 40 limited overs matches and on a whole there are two types: test matches and limited over matches.
there are some european nations playing professional crickets like The Netherlands, Scotland which are new but they performed really well considering that they get very little exposure in international cricket.
about being the master of game, australia sure was for a long time but their invincibility era is gone now. west indies some decades ago were also invincible. now the game is much more open and more talented players are coming from every country even the in the countries like Ireland. Speaking of Ireland, the performance of the whole team was awesome in the world cup especially Kevin O'Brien though he isnt new.
haha well talent is everywhere. dont forget that an amateur in the begging is the one who becomes a veteran in the end :)

As an Englishman and Yorkshireman.....I can say without any hesitation.........I'd rather put hot needles in my nads than watch or play Cricket....I hold it in the same regard as Golf.

Disgraceful! You should at least pretend to like it. The rest of us do. Golf indeed!

Because my dear chap....in case it has escaped your attention.....The English invented the sport of Cricket and we exported the sport to India.

As a result, in many cases it is assumed that as an Englishman I should automatically have an affinity for Cricket. Moreover, as a Yorkshireman it also assumed I should have an affinity for Cricket. Indeed, Yorkshire are by far the most successful side in the history of the county championship having won the title 30 times and until a few years ago and if you weren't born in Yorkshire you couldn't play for Yorkshire.

Its the irony of being an Englishman and a Yorkshireman and not liking cricket that I was demonstrating.....You know.....Cricket......Tea at 5.00 0'Clock.....that kind of thing.

Never mind, clearly it was lost on you as you have no deep understanding of the sport and Yorkshires part in the history of Cricket.

I did .......for years......... whilst my father was alive. I was dragged to Headingly week in week out and also forced to watch the district league on a saturday and having to miss Huddersfield Town playing (no bad thing I hear you say). Hell, depending on the kind of Saturday night he had, I was sometimes forced to watch Sunday as well.

I never shared his passion for Cricket.
