it is not long for the new formula one season .
can kubica make the difference this year?

lets be clear , the renaults are a mess but they have been world champions before , but with a super driver like Fernando Alonso .

so if fernando won , so can kubica because both of them are the best drivers

not more excuses for kubica ! your time has come !!!!

Off to your normal BS then espana as the Renault is the most pig ugly car they have ever made and the timings at Barcelona and Jerez were crap and even Kubica has said don't expect any wins at the beginning of the season.

Just to rub salt into the wounds Lewis Hamilton has set the fastest time for the week this morning way ahead of alsorans time lol

1. L. Hamilton McLaren MP4-25 1:20.472 53 laps
2. F. Massa Ferrari F10 1:20.539 +0.067 55 laps
3. S. Vettel Red Bull Racing RB6 1:20.667 +0.195 75 laps
4. M. Schumacher Mercedes GP W01 1:20.745 +0.273 55 laps
5. R. Barrichello Williams FW32 1:20.925 +0.453 40 laps
6. S. Buemi Toro Rosso STR5 1:22.135 +1.663 46 laps
7. K. Kobayashi Sauber C29 1:22.713 +2.241 32 laps
8. A. Sutil Force India VJM-03 1:23.079 +2.607 58 laps
9. R. Kubica Renault R30 1:24.293 +3.821 34 laps
10. H. Kovalainen Lotus F1 T127 1:25.251 +4.779 58 laps
11. L. Di Grassi Virgin Racing VR-01 1:26.790 +6.318 34 laps

Who knows how much fuel the front runners had, or what the others were testing? And who cares? In two weeks we start another season.

Two of my friends and I make a bet every year. We each pick the two drivers we think will score the most points when added together. This year my picks are Massa and Vettel. I had Massa and Kubica for the past two years but I'm not sure about Renault. We'll see.

Anyone else want to submit their picks?

I would go with Hamilton then Vettle.

Just one thing scottie I think those times are quite significant because the top three are all within 0.3s of each other which means they were all on a level plain.

ukpolska, that's a good point. And espana, your picks of Alonso, Button and Kubica (you can only choose two) just show how close this season could be. We'll know a little more in two weeks!

Kubica has his chances but many have better setups. Vettel may well storm to victory today. I have to read up more on who is where.

I see a great rivalry forming in Hamilton vs Vettel, these two for first and second come seasons end, so ill copy UKPolska, although i would have said those two anyway.

Cant see Button doing great, he just has too many excuses, Button for overall 5th in the drivers championship.

Constuctors championship:

1st Brawn Mercedes
2nd Redbull
3rd Fararri
4th McClaren

Drivers championship:

1st Hamilton
2nd Vettel
3rd Alonso
4th Massa
5th Button

Its wide open really, so we shall see.

You realise your two championship results are mutually exclusive?

Boring race, and I'm afraid we're going to see more like it this year. Oh well.

Before practice starts, I'm going to pick Vettel to win, followed by Massa and Alonso, in that order.

What are your predictions?

The top 10 will look like the qualifying positions, no over taking.

Unless it rains.

And its does.

Vettel has a fast and unreliable car, which goes hand it hand of course.

Rumour has it that Kubica has already agreed to a contract with Ferrari for next season, replacing Felipe Massa. It would be Alonso-Kubica next season, and probably several more. Robert and Fernando are good friends. No confirmation as of yet from Ferrari...

Nothing special. Haven't several drivers won from last place, Schumacher for instance. Mind you, simply finishing the race will often result in a dozen place improvements when you get that many retirements.

In fact the most memorable thing about the race, besides the winners, was Alonso falling asleep and being overtaken by Schumacher on the last corner.

Alonso is in a Ferrari and he's still crap. Up to his usual tricks in taking out Petrov, I would have though a drive through would have been in order for that.

Bighead Hamilton won the race.

Peterwank, you and I both know very well that if Kubica was in a McLaren he would be WAY ahead of Hamilton in points at the moment. Hamilton is crap on the bottom of Kubica's shoe. Until he racing for Red Bull, McLaren or Ferrari, you retards will continue to underappreciate his true skill level and work ethic. While Hamilton is out partying, Kubica is on the track with his mechanics, studying the course, and giving his input on the car.

Filios1, I disagree with your assessment of Hamilton compared to Kubica, especially the shoe comment. That was totally uncalled for. Hamilton drives like a madman, and I mean that in a highly compimentary way. His results speak for themselves over the years. But you're entitled to your opinion.

I really like Kubica, and I honestly believe that he's one of the best drivers in F1 today. He's very fast, very smooth, very consistent, and he rarely makes a mistake. If he and Hamilton were both on the same McLaren team, I think Kubica would beat him 9 times out of 10. He's that good.

Shifting gears here: what the hell was Vettel thinking when he turned into Webber? What an effing disaster!
