innovation is always good I think. I

The whole point of the rule changes is to remove innovation (to cut costs) and allow more overtaking. The diffuser violates both principles, but the worst one is that it hinders overtaking by increasing turbulence behind the cars.

Remove it for this reason alone, I say.

The comparativeness will be increase by giving more teams access to the more powerful engines from Mercedes and Renault (who have been allowed engine design changes).

Kub (no Kers) is faster than Heidfeld (with Kers). And he's still faster than the two Ferraris.

Hmm, i don't know what to think about that Brawn GP team... They're so faster than the other drivers :/
But Kubica is the better 'top' driver of the qualifications, that's a good point.

1. Button (Brawn)
2. Barrichello (Brawn)
3. Vettel (Red Bull)
4. Kubica (BMW)
5. Rosberg (Williams)
6. Glock (Toyota)
7. Massa (Ferrari)
8. Trulli (Toyota)
9. Räikkönen (Ferrari)
10. Webber (Red Bull)

i dont know what to think about the new regulation ,
I don't like that some people are using the kers and some aren't.
nealy all the cars with Kers are slow today .
i would like to see brown gp ,williams , toyota ,kubica , red bull and t rosso with the kers . i bet everything will be different if they have the kers.

so fia as usual fucking this sport

It looks like the KERS is going to only have marginal benefit.

The Diffuser is far more important. One reason I suspect that McLaren are not protesting the diffuser is probably because they NEED it to overcome the lack of rear downforce that particularly affect Hamilton (he likes to slide the rear around corners). Ferrari will probably appreciate the option to get more downforce as well with their more powerful engine.

Indeed, but nice to see they are screwing over Ferrari, even with the extra $100million bribe they get from the FIA every year, they still are nowhere this year.

The thing is that the KERS is quite heavy (40 kg i heard), and some drivers are heavier than others. Kubica is heavier than Heidfeld, that's why he doesn't have it, that would make his car too heavy compared to the other cars. The aim of the KERS is to gain speed, not to slow the car ;)

Hehe, no, just much taller than his teammate. Kubica is 1m84 tall (which is quite tall in Formula 1), Heidfeld is 1m64.
20 centimeters between them, they're not the same weight.

Probably.

1m84

so Kubica is around the six foot mark and Hiedfeld is a little on the "dinky" side at around five foot four.

Who can stop this team, not only are they one and two on the grid and the fastest cars out there.... in the qualifiers they were the two heaviest cars on the track. This gives them another advantage as they have much more flexibility in their race strategy.

You have to hand it to Ross Brawn & Co they have really pulled out the stops this year, and Ferrari must be kicking themselves that they lost him a couple of years ago, the guy is literary a genius.

Just as an afterthought don't count out Fernando Alonso down in 10th place with 680.7kg, he is an amazing driver and with that little bit extra fuel could be up there at the end.

Weightings:
1. Jenson Button 664.5kg
2. Rubens Barrichello 666.5kg
3. Sebastien Vettel 657kg
4. Robert Kubica 650kg
5. Nico Rosberg 657kg
6. Felipe Massa 654kg
7. Kimi Raikkonen 655.5kg
8. Mark Webber 662kg
9. Nick Heidfeld 691.5kg
10. Fernando Alonso 680.7kg
11. Kazuki Nakajima 680.5kg
12. Heikki Kovalainen 690.6kg
13. Sebastien Buemi 675.5kg
14. Nelson Piquet 694.1kg
15. Giancarlo Fisichella 689kg
16. Adrian Sutil 684.5kg
17. Sebastien Bourdais 662.5kg
18. Lewis Hamilton 655kg
19. Jarno Trulli 660kg
20. Timo Glock 670kg

I think the only thing that could keep them from winning this year, is that both Ruebens and Jenson aren't as dynamic as some of the other drivers from the top teams. Once Ferrari, McLaren, BMW, modify their cars enough to better match Brawn, I think that the talent of the driver could come into play, rather than the performance of his car.

"Following lengthy discussions with the various parties, stewards reiterated their belief that the cars are legal," FIA said in a statement. "That decision is expected to be appealed, which would require a hearing of the FIA's International Court of Appeal. That would be unlikely to take place until after next weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix."

And seeing as Renault have dropped their appeal I shouldn't think the appeal will come to anything.

The was just fantastic today and a fairy tale start for Ross Brawn and his drivers... best thing to happen to F1 in years!!

I don't think they will ban it. Although if they do, Hamilton will be promoted to 1st place which will be a remarkable result (Truli has been demoted to 12th place for overtaking under the safety car). Hamilton beat all the standard diffuser cars in a apparently slow car.

Vettel and Kubica crash was stupidity on both their parts - a bit harsh to penalise Vettel so much (he's getting a 10 place grid penalty at the next race)
