Vuvuzelas have been banned from all Uefa-sanctioned games such as Euro 2012 qualifiers and Champions League games.

Hallelujah. They would have drowned out my plaintive renderings of 'who ate all the pies";)

A draw is what I expected and isn't a bad result away from home for Scotland. Lithuania are stronger than what people think. Look at what they did before, they challenged some top teams. I'm satisfied with that result as a Scot.

Belarus beat France, LOL. Germany only managed one goal but a win is a win. Serbia only scored one in the second half :( :( England bagged one more than I thought they would, sods! ;)

What!? They played rubbish for the whole game, Scotland were all over them, which just tells you HOW bad they were.

Still, Scotland were clearly lacking in penetration up front. Enter DT :)

They played Miller, who despite his hard work, is not a goal poacher like Boyd. Most of our chances would have been taken with him in the line-up.

What were the last results again of Scotland vs Netherlands again? :) And when was the last time a Scottish club team won the CL? :) For NL it was 1995 and in 2002 a Dutch team won the UEFA Cup. :)

You beat them yes - we humiliated them :) And almost is not quite, eh? :))

I don't hear that about the Germans and they were before this last time the kings of anti football :) We're #2 in the world. What position is Scotland defending? :)) I really don't understand this critisism towards the Dutch team - there are plenty of other teams that are much worse than NL and always have been like that: Italy, for example. It's just BS, we're number 2 in the world and we aren't because we play bad football.

Anyhow, on a more serious note: I wonder on what occasions is a Scotchman supposed to wear a kilt? Only on very official occasions or also on weddings and so on?

You sneaked the victory in that match, M-G. We matched you in every department and didn't let you play.

Whenever he likes. Some people wear most of the time. Some only on special occassions. A kilt at the end of the day costs about £1000(full suit, kilt itself is about £600-£700) , it's not something you go and get destroyed by wearing it to your work.

Well, every smaller team has a great day every now and then and can perform miracles :) Fact is that before the finals we didn't lose one single game. And all this halleluyah about the German team is a bit premature - this is the first tournament that they have showed some technical football, before that it was a bore to watch. We came to win and we nearly did. We always have played very beautiful football and it brought us nowhere. Now we have played less technical and more result and we nearly pulled it off. Next time probably.

Well, you hardly have reason to, now, do you? :)))

Ah ok, thanks. I was just wondering because sometimes when there's a rugby match around the corner in Croke Park between Scotland and Ireland, I see loads of them in kilts. 1000 pounds? Is it tailor made then?

Yeah, Holland show that ;) ;)

We have the kilts, that you seem to be very jealous of, plus we dont have Amsterdam which is another good reason to feel good ;)

Well, its about 25 yards of the finest wool, plus aye everyone is tailor made ;)

Ah well, I don't care about all that critisism. We're a very small country and I am proud that we managed to get this far and we have done it before. That our clubfootball sucks is mainly due to the big money from the big countries and except Spain, all of them have disappointed dearly. NL can be proud of her achievements in football.

I agree, Scotland also had a great team in the 70's (even 4 years ago when we were in the same group with the wolrd cup winners and the runners up, and topped that group till the last game, were a decent team) Today, teams like Dundee United who used to get about 40000 fans a game, barely make by with only 6000. This is the effect of the Old Firm, they themselves with their bigoted views and fans can blame themselves for the decline in Scottish talent.

They sure did. The team in 1978 was marvellous and it's always nice to play the Scots - good atmosphere and afterwards everybody just goes to the pub and drink themselves to oblivion :)

It's the big money that is ruining true football. Too bad that the new rule of having only 3 foreigners in your squad didn't pass through - would be very good for smaller countries like Scotland or NL...

As for the kilts, I'm not so much jealous of it, but I find it somewhere between peculiar and funny, but in a good way. Usually when I see those guys in kilts, they have a blush on their cheeks of a little too much beer and usually they're good mooded. I like the Scots. But somehow I think it must be freezing when it's very cold when you wear a kilt - is bladder infection a common disease among Scotsmen in wintertime?

>^..^<

M-G (wishes NL had more traditions like that, but a Dutchman would be laughed at if he would wear a traditional costume on other occasions then showcases)

Poor Polson must be drowning his sorrows and wondering what those sad excuses for football players have to do to play to their potential.

It weighs about 25kg-30kg, its still warm in winter. The history of why kilts came about is quite interesting. In the past they were much longer and worn from the shoulder to give cover from the cold winds and extreme winters. Only when they became "fashion" were they worn from the waist. The garb was worn over the shoulder and used as a blanket to cover yourself up if sleeping out at night.

Hey :)

No need to bring us in the discussion...but I'm pleased to report to PF that my hero Müller was 50% percent of the Klose goal.

(Löw said most of our boys are not back in the spirit of a tournament again...that will need more time...)

MareGaea:

I wonder what the Dutch do differently than the Austrians for example...we are all Germans but the Austrians can't play football even if their lifes depend on it!
(Them and the also germanic Swiss actually)

*wonders*

Why do you have to lash out against the Mannschaft in every discussion! What did we ever do to you??? MEANIE!!! *pouts*
