What about a Grand Prix of Poland in the future ?

Poland could be the next destination to bid for a grand prix, according to reports.

Gdansk, a large port city in the north of the country, is planning a 5.7 kilometre circuit, to be built at a cost of some (US) $285 million, the German news agency 'sid' claimed.

The popularity of Formula One in the central European country has increased considerably with the success of BMW-Sauber's Polish race driver, Robert Kubica.

What do you think about it ? It could be great ;)

$285 million? Jesus, is it going to be gold plated?

There are too many F1 tracks being built and only so many races, so it could end up as yet another racetrack

LoL ;) But it could be good to enhance Formula 1 in Poland !
So maybe we will have a Polish "Szumacher" in a few years :p Thanks to Kubica AND the super $285 million track of Gdansk ;)

The funds are not from the State ;) It's said that Gdansk (the city where the track is supposed to be built) is looking for sponsors...so if you know someone who has too much money and don't know what to do with it...think of it ;p LoL

I really can't see this happening, Poland is full of grand ideas like this but it never takes off. They would probably do better to put some money into the Poznan circuit and get that up to a decent standard.

It states in the article that Poland has never had a Grand Prix. This is not strictly true as is the idea that Kubica is Poland's first F1 driver. From 1930 to 1933 there was a Polish Grand Prix held on a street circuit around Lvov with plenty of Polish drivers participating and winning.

Poland has never had a Grand Prix

not an F1 variety.. there are plenty "big purse" races out there that are not F1 though.

Poland would be a great place for an f1 track why not if south africa can think about it why not and as for the purson who said about the money going for jobs what about us brits in the uk where does our money go so we can hardly talk about money for jobs so why be a d*** and say that? Your just probs upset because you think they have are all hear for our jobs but i want to say HAVE YOU EVER BEEN THERE probs no, but i have i live with a polish lady and have alot of polish friends and they desirve as much of a chance in life as us brits?

So come on berney put the world of f1 into poland it would be fantastic to be there and great to watch and maybe that guy what was talking earlier may see poland for poland.
But i have to say because i am british come on team GB jenson and lewis

Krakow is one destination where a group of Australia Entrepreneurs (involved with the Australian F1) are putting together an offer for a circuit planned for Krakow - Poland.

If you are interested and want to become involved in any way shape or form, please join us on facebook.

its too late for any polish grand prix since russia is hosting one in sochi in 2014, besides eccelstone is a robber baron, not many new tracks have made any money without massive state funding.

The track could be used for world superbike , the bike grand prix , the touring cars...

the tracks may not make lots of money , but the spectators who flood in would be spending their dosh in Polska...

motor and motorcycle racing is big money...it would bring jobs too...

it would be great to have such a track in Poland...
