believe me mate, there isn't much i don't know about football and understanding the ins and outs of supporting :). So what if you've heard about them since you were younger, i heard about a lot of teams when i was young. It didn't mean that i started to support Barcelona or Inter Milan did it??? your reasoning is floored in so many ways.

Andrew78:

how far are you willing ot go to affiliate with them, the sponsor been American, know that is desperate and silly if you ask me :).

Andrew78:
which team do you support again?

Glasgow Rangers (In the heart) and i go and watch Torquay to experience local football.

Andrew it's just the way people see each other in this country. For many it's case of "support your local club." I get this alot and I'm English. I also have a family full of Mancunians that taught me everything about Manchester United since birth, gave me everything to do with Manchester United since birth, took me to games since a toddler etc. But I am understandably looked at as a "glory hunter" because I was born 1 hr away from Manchester in Blackpool. I'm not, but I do get fed of trying to explain myself as nobody accepts it. So I choose to keep my love of the club to myself and to myself only. English football is different to U.S sport, you know that.

right now your just getting silly, i mean really control your language Timothy :). |The teams i metioned before were Wisla Krakow, Boca Juniors and Juve. These are teams that i look out for, i don't really have a major interest in them but just keep an eye on the results etc, i don't SUPPORT ANY OF THESE TEAMS.

the reason i support Rangers, ok, my dad is from Glasgow, i was brought up watching Rangers at Ibrox, i've been round Europe watching them, i've been to the far reaches of Scotland to watch them. It runs through the family, Rangers is in our blood, EXACTLY HOW IT SHOULD BE.

as for your conduct i think you've just shown yourself up. Comparing Manchester United to another team, you don't support a team because they are the best or because you think they play the best football, you support them because thats what you've grown up with. Although i guess you don't know much about that, obviously :).

now i think that is 20p in the swear box for you young man :)

I support Liverpool. I don't come from Liverpool, I have never lived in Liverpool or anywhere near it but my family, for generations, have supported Liverpool fiercely through thick and thin. :)

Its a damn site more fun.

I wasn't born in Manchester either and have followed them for nearly 40 years and that includes going to a lot of games when they were in the old 2nd division during 1974-75 season. Doesn't really bother me what people think. My mum was from Belfast and i was always going to be wearing a George Best shirt as a child. I still follow my local non league football team in london, Tooting & Mitcham F.C, had many good days there. However i am not going to follow the Vancouver Whitecaps, i think Tooting & Mitcham would even turn them over :)

I am far more passionate about Rugby any way always have been. I do miss not being able to go to my club London Irish. I get constant updates from my friends at home though, even if it is 5am in the morning ;(

lol, there is brith place and then the place were you live, who your family have supported and your family history etc etc. I mean if major celebrities can manage to keep tabs on their football teams then why can't mr bloggs on the street.

For example Torquay United has a famous fan 'Helen Chamberlain' she does not live in Torquay and has not for many years, she can't get to games much anymore but always makes the effort and has not changed her colours :)

It's nothing to do with what they've won. Why do people say that? Maybe r e a d my post again. It's a generations thing in my family. It has nothing to do with where my family lived, it's to do with a team a member of my family years ago supported and it's carried on. Not everything comes from "where you live".

And btw - the far reaches of Scotland are not Aberdeen. You can take a train straight there from London.

i think you'll find Decorator was taking it to the extreme, obviously his family are British and not Indian, the same as my family are English/Scottish and not Cypriot even though i was born there :).

Misty:
Why do people say that?

why else would Liverpool have the exposure, its being on the world stage that does it, no?? am i wrong?? It has everything to do with winning and being successful, if that were true my dear then maybe people around the world would start supporting Taunton Town. Ow yes but they haven't won anything or don't have a major history of being successful so they won't get supported or recognised worldwide.

Misty:

i've just explained it love :)

really i don't have too :) you sound like your telling me off misty?? are you telling me off?? :):):)

Misty:
It's a generations thing in my family

write so a generation thing in a Polish family to support and English team?? so how did your family know about Liverpool in the first place??? They went to the city and fell in love with the football team?? They came to Poland and played a lot of matches??? hhhmmm maybe not hay :).

Misty:

so this thing that has been in your family for generations came from where exactly, i'm guessing somebody got up one morning and thought, hhhmm you know what i'm going to support liverpool. No of course not, there is a reason for everything, now that is true!!!!

He was talking about Cliff Richard, who was born in India and spent a part of his life there yet does not actively support India's national team. You are talking about where people are born and what team they support so Decorators post was not to the extreme, it was, infact, spot on.

tornado2007:

AGAIN it has to do with a family member, history and absolutely nothing to do with winning or losing anything. If my family member had had associations with Taunton Town then yes, that would have been the team that we all supported no doubt. Don't try and tell me why my family are strong Liverpool supporters. I answered a question asked by another member and YOU are trying to drag it to bits. You sicken me.

And I never said it twice so why are you quoting it twice?

That's right, spot on, my great-grandfather woke up about 100 years ago and he said to his wife "wife, I'm going to support Liverpool so that in 100 years Misty will have to justify her support of the team to some blowhard on a Polish forum".

Give me a break.

actually the discussion was about clubs and not national sides, so while he was making a good point it was not spot on :).

wow i sicken you because i'm asking why you support a certain team, i ask people when i meet them, what football team do you support???? why do you support them??? what is wrong with that???

ok ok ok one family member or something or other, so the whole famliy becomes liverpool fans. I have to accept it but why can't i question it?? or ask about it??? what is wrong with that. People ask me, why do you support Rangers, i don't have a scottish accent, i don't live in Scotland, however until they ask they don't know my dad is scottish and from glasgow and that i've traveled around to see them.

Misty:

aaahhhh well then that explains it all :):):):):):), that is all i was asking for, why?? (Joking of course, i know you great-grandad didn't do that)

Misty:

Give me a break.

i haven't given you a hard time!!! I have been asking you questions, your the one calling me names :) your giving me more of a hard time than i am you :):):).

Because you write crap like about how it must be about what that team has won. Stop back-tracking.

Actually it's the same thing. You support Rangers because your father does. You weren't born there or brought up there but you support them because you inherited that from you father, yet you have a problem with others who do the same.

I'm not bothering with this any more, I thought it was a fun thread. What a lot of rubbish.

A football team can be a national side.

correct, however all the sides listed have been clubs, so i think it is safe to assume that it was a discussion about clubs, also decorator did say India F.C. which as you know stands for 'Football Club' :)

Misty:

Because you write crap like about how it must be about what that team has won. Stop back-tracking.

back tracking, me i don't think so, teams become famous around the world because of their success hence people support them around the world. If you can't see the correlation between the two then hat planet are you on?? lol. So here is a question for you, what team is world supported and recognised that has not one a single thing or that is not successful?? There is none, therefore it is linked to winning, maybe not in your personal case but generally it is!!!

as for writting crap, thats a matter of opinion, you can slag me off all you like but i can't believe its over something so small as this. If i was calling you out over something, maybe being racist, sexist etc etc i could understand it, this is football!!!

Misty:

Actually it's the same thing. You support Rangers because your father does. You weren't born there or brought up there but you support them because you inherited that from you father, yet you have a problem with others who do the same.

i didn't grow up there?? i was was brought up there for the early years of my life. (you weren't to know that) so actually i'm not doing what you have suggested.

Misty:

I'm not bothering with this any more, I thought it was a fun thread. What a lot of rubbish.

it is a fun thread, everybody has posted their teams and colours and i'm sure they will continue to do so. Football is a game of opinions and discussion, it comes with the territory :)

well good luck to Man City for the up and coming season, i hope they can find stability and success again soon. They have had a great support at the new 'Eastlands Stadium' and at the old 'Maine Road'. A lot of fans stuck by them through there drop down the leagues but were revived by King Kev :)
