Aberdeen football club, the only scottish club with two stars ;)

If anyone thinks thats glory hunting then they need to learn about scottish football lol
Hate the bigot brothers, the old firm, two sides of the same coin,
Football in scotland is geared towards keeping the pockets of this two lined and keeping them in the champions league year after year

Good team but they haven't won a European since 2002 and six years is a long time for a team like this, where success is demanded by their fans.

espana, i take it you are aware that in 1983 a small scottish team pumped you in the european cup winners cup!

Afterwards alfred di stefano was quoted as saying "Aberdeen have something money can't buy, A soul!"

For the record i agree you are the best team in europe, don't see enough football from outside europe to comment on the rest,
But you are right thats why it is a wonderful game, following Aberdeen nowadays is eventful we are a team that cost 100,000 to put together and yet held bayern munich to a 2-2 draw this year (admittedly we were beaten 5-1 in the second leg)
Then we were beaten 4-3 in the national cup semi final by a first division team,
Do i envy clubs who win all the time? No i appriciate it more

Team that I support .... Fulham FC, since early 1970's when I went to see them play against Tottenham Hotspur in a pre-season friendly with my grandad :o)

I had been to see Chelsea play Derby County a few years earlier, but chose to support Fulham as they were a family friendly club and a much safer bet than Chelsea in those days. They were in the old second division then and I have supported them through thick and thin ... mostly thin !

I have supported Fulham by being a season ticket holder and an away season ticket holder for a number of years, buying their club merchandise and actively spending my hard earned cash on the club :o)
My six year old boy now has caught the Fulham bug, and goes to training days at the FFC training ground and also has his own Jnr season ticket.

Even when I move to Poland , which should be next year, I will try and make it back to watch Fulham ..... I'll be keeping my season ticket as I believe I have one of the best seats in the stadium :o)

I support Fulham , but follow a number of teams in other countries .... Wisła Krakow in Poland as I have been to see them play and have family links in Krakow, Juventus in Italy, Barcelona in Spain, although I seem to have a soft spot for Valencia also, Celtic in Scotland.

In my opinion , there is a difference in supporting a club and following a club :o)

Up to now I have been a fan ... and a follower of Wisła Krakow, but once we move to Polska, and I start attending games on a regular basis, most probably get a season ticket, then I will consider myself a true Wisła Krakow supporter ! However, if I move to Warsaw .... will I start going to Legia or Polonia and become a Warsaw supporter ??

It is strange how non-local supporters of ManU or Liverpool always say they dont support them for the glory but because of some family connection or because they like the way they play etc. I'm a Coventry fan, we dont have any glory supporters funnily enough.

this is what you call 'supporting' a club!!!!!

we have a few similarities and you obviously understand what i mean by 'supporting' and 'following' there is a distinct difference.

exactly

to be honest i still think its following as Fulham will still be at the centre of your heart, if you understand what i'm saying

I think you're right !

It would be interesting to see how I'd react if Fulham, by some miracle got into Europe and were drawn against Wisła Krakow .... who would I be cheering for ? ....

I think it would have to be Fulham, as that's the team I have supported most of my life :o) ..... however when it comes to the national game, I always support Poland over England; this goes back to the 1973 game at Wembley which I attended with my brother and grandad ...... what a match !!!

I find it amusing when I take my son to his Saturday football training here in West London, and most of the club shirts on display on his fellow 6-8yr olds are a mixture of Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea; yet most of these kids ... or their parents have never been to Old Traffford or Anfield !
They appear to have formed an affiliation with a club based purely on success and winning , rather than on actually physically going to watch the their team play, supporting one of their local teams.
I think the over saturation of football on tv is largely to blame, as the glamorous teams are the ones which are on our screens the most.

I have noticed that it's usually the devoted and true club supporter, usually wearing the local Brentford, QPR or Fulham shirt, that is the more committed and better footballer amongst the young kids :o)

It's the 'easy' option to affiliate oneself with a successful team .... but to truly call oneself a 'supporter' of a club, involves a lot more than just 'talking the talk' !
Turning up on a rain soaked mid-week November evening .... cold and wet, watching your local team play in a match with a crowd of just over 2,000 other supporters , when the other option was to stay at home, warm and comfortable to watch a 'live' European game involving one of the big four, shows true commitment and no doubt a level of insanity which is associated with the 'true supporter' !

It was funny when Fulham finally made it to the Premiership .... suddenly many celebrities came out of the woodwork and admitted to being a Fulham supporter :o)
Where were they in the dark days when Fulham was in the lower divisions and nearly got relegated from the league completely ?

Good old David 'Diddy' Hamilton .... long serving Fulham supporter and does the public announcements at the Cottage :o)

Can't wait for the new season to start .... Hull City away ..... and then an easy start at home against Arsenal !!

Was going to buy tickets for the Arsenal game for a friend over from Poland, but didn't realise they were going to cost between £60 -£70 per ticket !!

I wouldn't pay £60-£70 for a ticket to a league game unless I was going to make a proper day/night out of it.

It only costs £5 for an AFC Fylde ticket.

We have the same problem up here, no rangers or celtic fans are glory hunters apparently and the memories of the 80's and early 90's when they both regularly got crowds below 20,000, incidently this was the time when Aberdeen, dundee utd were winning and they weren't winning every year.
Also one thing that really annoys me is the scots and poles who support celtic because they are a "catholic" club
Glory hunters cannot enjoy the level of passion for a club that we the real supporters do.

It's due to the catholicism and Protestant link between the clubs. I don't think they support them for football reasons.

Don't make this into something it's not!
