I'm a football fan but I sometimes think football fans are such c0cks. Its the reason I never wear a football jersey and why I'd rather watch SkySports then go to a match. Fat bastards in sports clothing- it all started at the football.

Same reason Swindon.. Watford have people in the stands. It's his home!

Actually.. Lions might be respectable this season. Can't wait , season's almost here.

OMG well i'm glad i missed it then, saved me another 90 minutes of my life, maybe the pool tournament was worth it in the end.

I know it seems strange but i just like football, i will watch a match with two teams that i do not support, i think its to expand my vast but useless football knowledge. Dam it i wish i was so knowledgable on something more useful :)

All these Man United fans!!!
How many of you have been to Old Trafford? Pathetic!!

I support my local team, saw my first game at 2 weeks old in a carry cot (Sir Trev was playing), and have had a season ticket for 20 years, despite the dire nature of the football at present...

Taking my Polish g/f to her first game Saturday week against Wigan Athletic... what a treat ;)

I'm sure she'll enjoy it .... she must be aware of your love of football ?

When my wife (then she was only my girlfriend) came over to England for her first visit, the first day I took her to Birmingham as Fulham had an away match against the Blues :o) ..... we did some sightseeing after that ..Warwick Castle etc and then on the way back to London we watched Fulham play against Northampton in a League Cup match ! :o))

I had prepared her previously about my love of footie, and supporting Fulham FC, so it wasn't a total shock for her :o)

Nine years on ...... we're happily married with two children, and we still go to Fulham games together from time to time; mostly I take my 6 yr old boy with me to games as he has his own Junior season ticket :o)

Why dont Man U/Liverpool fans (who dont come from the North West) support Brazil in the World Cup? Seriously, I'd like to know.

You do get the odd tosspot that will support the likes of Brazil but many of the glory hunters still remain loyal to their national team. It might have something to do with their upbringing. Seeing their father cheer on England all the time, being proud to be English etc. If I ever did see an Englishman cheer on a national team that wasn't England I would cringe. I wouldn't look at them as real football fans. They'd obviously lack passion for their country and their football team. Thank God those sort of people are hard to find.

If you do manage to find someone that does do that 9 out of 10 times it's usually a girl. A girl supporting a foreign team because of a player she has the hots for.

I suppose if one uses the criteria of being born in a certain country, having citizenship , then I would be considered English ...... but I have always supported Poland over England in football and other sports :o)

My parents and grandparents were born in Poland but came over to England after World War II ended; I was born in England and grew up in England, but I have always felt more Polish than English, and I am proud to consider myself as Polish :o)

My children, born in England, support the Polish national team in preference to England; I have noticed that at their school there are many kids born here but of French, Italian or Spanish parents and they have chosen to support France, Italy and Spain respectively rahther than support the English national team :o)

definitely :o)

Also, look at the number of Indians, Pakistanis etc... who are born in England, yet when the cricket is on will support India, Pakistan rather than England.

Being born in a country is not enough it seems; the way one is brought up and the cultural influences appear to play a much stronger role in how a person views their own national identity.

lol, i'm right here, i wondered how long it would take somebody to notice :):), rubbish start to the season and an average 1-0 win today, not looking particularly good!!!!

totally, totally agree mate, i've made that exact point myself :)

ppfff, aresenal lol, great team until it comes to winning trophies :)

as for Basketball i can't think of anything more boring, ding dong ding dong ding dong, its all about the last minute!!!.

Tennis is great, followed it for years, i think its ashame the game is dominated by a powerhouse rather than a very skillful player such as Rodger Federer.

i'd say the same, of course i mean the ladies :) yum yum
