delphiandomine: Nottingham, Sheffield, Coventry will probably be fine. Belfast might be allright - but they've had problems before and I'm still not convinced that they actually make any sort of money there. Hull will be almost certainly gone I think, likewise Basingstoke. The Caps might, just might stay in the EIHL - but I very much doubt it. Newcastle might survive, but who knows? At the very least, I think two teams will have gone by next season, maybe even three,
Manchester, Coventry, Hull, Sheffield and Newcastle (and us) are borderline. Belfast, from what I can gather, are OK. They don't make much money but they stay afloat.

It would be a dreadful mistake to play in the EIHL next season. We can't afford to enter the season never mind compete throughout it. It's not just a "this" season thing though. We've tried the EIHL over the past few seasons and we're not good enough - sad but true.
delphiandomine: The thing that worries me from a Caps point of view - exactly what would we be dropping into? It would seem that we could end up in some nonsense Scottish league with thousands of games against Paisley/Dundee/Fife - and that's not going to do much for the 'crowds' at Murrayfield.
When I was asked this question a few weeks ago I answered that we should apply to play in the English leagues. We could afford that and we could ice a team worthy of that. I'm hearing through the grapevine that there is some cool hockey being played in those leagues this season. Plus the away trips would be awesome. :D
The crowds at Murrayfield have been nothing to write home about for a while and I truly don't think they would decrease if we played in a different league. In fact, judging by comments read recently, if the team played a different league and charged less at the gate our attendance would be higher.
My opinion of of the EIHL...it's only got five years maximum left in it anyway. Too many teams in debt to play in it, or crashing out moneywise through the season.
