Am I missing something or could it be that I need the 3rd post(this one) to get the email visible too? Screenshot attached of Lomas's profile where you can see the 'no email'-thingie :)

Loma's email function is disabled.

Hi Riisto,

Sorry for the delay. I think you we'll be pleased to hear that we've had a couple of Finns in our team. So bring your equipment and I'll talk with my team that you'll be playing with us. If you could send me more details (name and what position did you play etc.) that would be great.

PS. I also can't send PMs:
"Sorry! You must post at least 3 useful forum messages to be able to send private mail to other members."

EDIT: It works now.

Anyone else interested please don't hesitate to contact me

This is a reply from Canada the home of ice hockey . My parents came from Poland many years ago and my father especially embraced hockey as a passionate fan of our local team, the Canadian national team and any Polish successes however small in this great game. I started playing hockey as a youngster in Canada and I can tell you that when you are born into it as I was, there is a passion that develops that even supersedes that of football, also known as soccer here. If every country had real winters as Canada has and ice hockey rinks to indulge in, other winter sports pale in comparison to the sheer joy of the game. Yes, I have also played football (soccer) and loved it but hockey transcends other sports because you do not run on a field ;you fly on ice. That is every child's dream.

Hi Expat?!

Just out of interest, did you find a team for your sons to play in??? I heard there should be at least one team in Opole. And what do you think of the level of the junior hockey compared to Finland? I have a son too, aged 11, whose passion is ice-hockey. So, just wondering about the possibilities in Silesia...

The game of ice hockey probably evolved from the game of field hockey that was played in Northern Europe for hundreds of years. The modern version of ice-hockey finds its origins in the rules laid down by a Canadian named J G Creighton. His rules were implemented in the first game of ice hockey played in Montreal, Canada in the year 1875.

In fact, the “rink” or the playing area for ice hockey was actually used in the game called “curling” in Scotland during the 18th century. Initially there were as many as thirty players for each side and the goals were two stones frozen on one end of the ice. The rules for the game of ice hockey were drafted at McGill University in Montreal, Canada in the year 1879. Ice hockey found its way to the US in the year 1893. By the early 1900s, the sport had become prevalent in parts of Europe including the UK.

Hey Polish hockey fans, I'm hoping you can help me out. I'm in the US, and over here hockey fans can easily purchase a jersey for their favorite NHL team, or even a team USA jersey from numerous stores and online shops. They're everywhere.

I've been trying to find a team Poland jersey to wear, but have had limited success. I did score a game worn Proszkiewicz jersey, but its huge on me and I don't want to have it altered since its a gamer. I have found some retail fashion jerseys, but nothing authentic, like what the players wear (as seen on the IIHF team Poland page). I have searched online, on ebay, etc. Some stores carry international jerseys, but not for the Polish team.

Is hockey not popular enough in Poland to have stores carry jerseys like they do in the US? Or are the jerseys I'm looking for there, but I can't find the right website? Has anyone ever seen retail team Poland jerseys anywhere? I'm a huge hockey fan, and proud of the Polish heritage I have. I'd love to have a jersey that fits and that isn't a collector's item that shouldn't be worn. If anyone has a link or lead to somewhere I can purchase one, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm debating going to school in Gdansk Poland next year, and i was wondering if they had outdoor ice rinks at parks. Not for leagues, just pick up games.

Hey all,

I posted on here nearly 2 years ago about teams in Warsaw. However, I haven't really settled in Warsaw full-time to put full effort into my search.
Well, I'm starting to look once again as it has now been over 2 years since I've picked up a stick.

Rec teams are also fine and at the moment, probably better as it will be more flexible with my work life.

Is their some Rec league website I can look at to find out more info?

I just wanna get playing, or at the least, keep fit doing something I enjoy. Doesn't have to be serious or competitive leagues, just a pick-up, knockabout or for fun. I'm missing playing! :'-( My kit has been sat in my garage in England for over 2 years now, probably full of moths and rust.

Guest:
There is an ametuer English speaking ice hockey team in Warsaw playing in some local league. Mainly made up of Canadian's living in Warsaw, they are called the Beavers.

Does anyone know if these guys are still around? Where are they playing? Torwar?

Hello. I wonder if anybody knows how the economy in Polish hockey is. Are the players pros or are they working besides playing? How much are the players payed on average?
Any spectators on the games?

HockeyFan Polish hockey is in a weak condition, now. But there is couple teams(4-5) where the players can earn quite good money (3-5 thousand euro/month). Spectators pointstreak.com/prostats/attendance.html?leagueid=1062&seasonid=5998
