The Adamek camp is working on a deal to fight Wladimir Klitschko in September of this year, it would be the grand opening event at the new football stadium built for the 2012 Euros. Before that Adamek will have one more fight in Poland, against former champ Hasim "The Rock" Rahman in April.

"We agreed on the general terms but, of course, the deal is subject to the execution of a contract," Main Events' Kathy Duva, Adamek's co-promoter, told ESPN.com. "Lawyers on both sides are working on the wording of the agreement now.
"If for some reason Wladimir can't fight in September, Vitali will be the opponent. The September date is the key because that is when the new stadium will open. This is a very big deal in all of Europe because the Wroclaw stadium, which is located on the border of Poland and Germany and not too far from Ukraine, is one of four currently being built to accommodate the 2012 European Soccer Championships."

the fight was mentioned on the news here. however not many people seem interested. at least not yet.

BTW. i always thought the grand opening of the stadium was to feature a Poland v Brazil game.

Yea but i'm a realist so my money's on Klitschko, to be frank i'm not quite sure Adamek will beat Rahman unless he is "done".

Rahman won't have a chance against Adamek - though it'll probably be a 12 round jabfest from Adamek.

It's probably more about trying to see what Polish city will put up the most cash for it. It'll be a huge box office event in Poland - so it does make sense to shop around.

Boxing is my favorite sport but it's not what it used to be fighters are scared to fight each other or when they do fight jab and run away, scared to open up and brawl, it used to be so exiting to watch.

That basically money destroying it, i mean a battered fighter doesn't get such big pay days so him, his entourage, manager everybody can lose the lot in one fight.

What was it Sugar Ray Leonard said after Tyson bit of Evander Holyfields ear: "whats up with fighters not taking a beating these day?"

For me boxing, precisely heavyweight, became boring 1st when Ali stopped and then 2nd when Tyson got nutts. That's it.
Todays boxers are products, money machines, no sport there. In heavyweight they are often pumped up middleweight and trying their luck on the jackpot.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Crazy thing, whatever happened to just wanting to be the best and beat the best?

What bugs me is the way some of these guys talk about their "legacy" and then make themselves a joke. Haye has a legacy and proven record in Cruiser, no dispute, but in Heavyweight? He's going on about how much money he'll lose in the Klitschko fight but then he get's awkward over a july date supposedly because it's too soon after his mandatory defence... when really he should be doing something to regain any chance of a legacy after the joke of a 'fight' (and I use the word with gritted teeth) against Fraudley Harrison.

That's boxing, that's what's exiting a guy wanting to prove he's the best by both guys giving their best in the ring and taking a risk, may the best man win. A few weeks ago a football match between our Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings got canceled because of snow, our Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell said "We're becoming a nation of pussies" and that can also be implied all around the world in every physical sport.

For the football game I know cause I followed the Eagles until they fell out...
But hey, for that 'puss1y' thing, I think there is a border for that, what is and what is not, but that's simply subjective.
In general I agree. Many kids today are simply spioled and don't know how apreciate certain things, because it came natural, without a fight. It's not to us to change that...

Like this case... a teacher lets his students go sledging and gets fired:
