As part of a new years resolution, I'm keen to get involved in some organised races/runs in 201.. I'm aware of the major ones i.e. full marathons, and also a shorter 5km in Krakow where I live, however I have no idea how to find out any additional runs which are going on - either in Krakow or further afield.

In the UK I would either be looking in a Running magazine, or would expect to find consolidated lists of all runs in certain regions on the web. So far haven't found anything like this, but accept I may not be looking in the right places. I assume that there would actually be races in Poland!?

Does anyone know how I can find out information about these.. ideally it would be to know of some 10km runs and other 5kms runs???

Any advice or info much appreciated..

Thanks

yup there's a site with information about them on polish marathons and probably a few more :

http://www.maratonypolskie.pl/

The first picture shows the right menu from the maratonypolskie.pl site. It's a marathon board with upcoming marathons. You can create an account on this site so it will be possible to click on "ZGŁ" button ( shortcut for submit ) and submit a form that you will be running in the marathon.

another is

http://bieganie.pl/
Go to the upper menu tab click "Imprezy" then on the left menu "Kalendarz Imprez" ( calendar )

The second picture:
After clicking on the name of the run you'll get additional info about it if it is available such as start of the run, the organizer, if there are laps, how many of them and so on.

No problem. Be aware some of these runs are mountain or hill runs and you need a different running shoes for these and a different workout. Maybe I'll see you in the one of the marathons, what region are you aiming for? I'm based around Silesia so there's a lot of hill/mountain running around here too. Haven't started training yet.. don't have good winter running clothes so I'm keeping with swimming pool and home gym ;)

I'll be looking for mainly 10km runs within quite close vicinity to Krakow - but happy to travel a bit. Sadistically like the idea of hill runs actually - but you're right, will have to tailor my training accordingly!

Also feeling limited to indoor training at the moment, and am currently trying to get some running fitness back on a treadmill. Its not so much that I wouldn't have warm clothes, just struggle with the motivation to be outside running in freezing temperatures!

There's a 10km run on 20th Mar in somewhere called Zawiercie which I'll aim for as my first run. This must also be pretty close to you..

20th March, I might show up although I'd probably prefer something along 5kms for the running season opener ; ) Anyways, good luck with your first run, write back how it was, how did you like the organisation and so on.

struggle with the motivation

Exactly the same here, when I was younger it wasn't such a bother and I could run through snow without special soft sole shoes and in pretty light clothes.. now I'd need some specialized equipment ;)
