Forget the Olympics, look forward instead to the men's World Lacrosse Championships being held in Manchester in the summer of 2010, and Poland's first ever entry. The team, made up of experienced Poles from the U.S., Canada as well as players from teams in Poland, is going to make some noise. Schedules to be released the beginning of March.

Shows your utter ignorance towards Poland then, doesn't it? Football is hardly the dominant sport in Poland - for a start, winter sports are very popular, Volleyball is the favourite sport of quite a few, basketball doesn't draw too badly (what with even women's games broadcast on TV) and MMA is sharply on the rise in Poland.

You might have noticed (but I doubt it) that people have been talking about nothing but Kowalczyk and Malysz over the last few weeks. No-one cares that the Ekstraklasa has started again.

Nice to see Poland taking part in Lacrosse - it's a nice, mental sport played at a high pace.

Oh it is. Maybe not so different to hockey, but football? Come on!

They don't actually do badly - consistent top 3 finishes in their Division 1 pool, they're not quite good enough to get promoted to the elite championship group, but they've always got a chance every year. And this is in a country where it's very much a minority sport - so I'd say that they actually overreach every year.

yes, futbol, hockey, lacrosse, handball are all very similar... maybe you're thinking pigskin? that IS completely different.. no feet involved. lol

they haven't made it to at least the last couple of olympics.. not sure if they are competitive in worlds.. whether minority sport or not, hockey used to be pretty popular in PL at one time.. maybe not so now..

No feet involved in American Football? The game is at least 50% feet, you would know that if you ever played it. Every position needs to have excellent footwork, even the linemen to get the proper drive. That is why a crapload of drills involve ladders, tires, and cones that look to just improve footwork.

Poland should forget soccer and and take up Rugby and cricket, a true man's game. I am sick and tired of those overpaid, oversexed and over hyped primma donnas.

I've never attended a cricket match so can't speak for myself, but I've heard Poles who have say it is the world's slowest-paced and most boring game. One person told me he even doubted if the fans watching a match knew what was going on.
