Well I'm 16 years old and going to Poland when I get there I will be 17 years old, and I was wondering how popular the sport of Basketball is in Poland. Like how much do kids play it over there, and if there is any basketball clubs in cities or even basketball teams for schools. Any help you can give will be very much appreciated.

Basketball... sure you can play it! In schools and there are sport clubs that offer a place in basketball teams. Still, it's not that popular, and going pro and succesfull in Polish league won't make you country-popular. We do it mostly for fun, but the leading team sport is football. We have successes in volleyball and hand ball. We have one Polish player in NBA named Gortat, you can google him. It's thanks to him why Polish mass media just few years ago got interested in basketball at all.
So no, it's not popular. And no, Polish people in general do not love basketball. Shame tho ;)
Good luck on that anyway! I assure you can have much to do with basketball if you want to. But going pro might not give you as much as you'd like to gain when comming from a western country.

I was at the Eurobasket 2009. Outside the Katowice stadium where the games were held, they had some interactive fan stuff set up, with basketball hoops, etc. There were lots of teens playing pick-up, 3-on-3, just chucking up shots, whatever. So I can tell you that's there interest to play basketball among the youths. Also, Poland's Under 17 boys team finished second at the FIBA Under 17 World Championships last year, so it could spark some more interest.

Hope this helps more than abbud's nonsense post.

Peace
